Default Tourists mysteriously dying in Dominican Republic

https://www.foxnews.com/world/son-of...turn-to-us.amp

Several tourists have mysteriously died in Dominican Republic..

We visited Punta Cana for our honeymoon last year, Despite the terrible food selection at our resort (breathless), I was considering going back..

Just curious if anyone else is following this or what you think it causing people to randomly die..

Never liked DR. Not sure why.

The best I can say is it's not Haiti.

Almost everything that appears to be a major brand in DR is some kind of counterfeit, and this could be the source of some kind of odd contamination.

Now that there is a travel advisory, perhaps the DR will take this seriously enough to get to the bottom of it.

That is from the advisory in April, well before the current press coverage.

Go to Nevis, BVI or USVI. Someplace like that.

That's a possibility, and Quantico probably already knows even if they haven't said so.

Everything is counterfeit. Just because a bottle says Hennessey does not mean that's what's in it.

My wife and I did a vacation in the DR at Excellence Punta Cana in 2014 and my wife got terribly sick for around two days. She couldn't leave the room and wanted to go home but we stuck it out. We travel often and have done plenty of Caribbean trips and this has only happened in the DR. We vowed to never go back after that trip.

Now it's crazy to hear all of these stories, and the most recent death occurs at Excellence Punta Cana, the same resort we stayed at. Crazy!

I think it's more organized than that, but still counterfeit on a more industrial scale.

If it's what some of us think it is, Mr Trump will have something to say about it.

If the FBI is speaking with him, that is. LOL....

Went DR back in 2015 and it sucked big time. **** loads of sea weed on the beaches. Every drop of liquor tasted water down. Everybody tries to rip you off. **** that place!

The first time I ever flew was to a DR resort a few years back. Best experience of my life. I would recommend for others too...

Pretty surprised by all the recent deaths in DR though

I hated DR too. Full of rude Europeans and everything closed at 9pm except the night club.

I went to hardrock last year for a wedding.... Funny because Gronkowski was also there, but he had no security (the guy is massive irl though)

2 people died at the hardrock this year. This is going to hurt their economy because I would assume a lot of cash goes into tourists visiting. They still haven't found a motive for the poison alcohol though.

I bet it's counterfeit Chinese manufactured alcohol.

It's nothing nefarious going on here, more of a supply chain issue with either food or alcohol.

What people fail to understand is for these employees of these resorts is that they work hard to get these jobs and often travel very very far for work, sleep on site due to the distance and get to go back to their family randomly through the month.
They depend on these jobs, so don't look at the staff and think there is some devious plan happening.

Were all the people who died American? Mostly just curious, not trying to conspiracize or anything. There were way more Europeans than Americans when I went to Punta Cana. Can't remember which resort I stayed at.

Yes most/all Americans.

Was at the Majestic Elegance (where the lady was attacked, but not ded) in PC last May for a close friend of the fam getting married. The all inclusive thing isn't really my "thing". Resort staff was quite pushy with alcohol and that got annoying. There's only so much shitty Presidente beer I can down.

I see no point in going there.

"Value" beach resorts ? pass

I'd rather tag along with grimace and go to Hawaii

To me, Hawaii seems expensive beyond its merits.

But, that's just me.

AVI, BVI, St Kitts, Nevis, so many other places to go that are nicer and cheaper to get to. :-)

I'd even prefer Jamaica to DR, but I'm probably prejudiced and might have an expectation of getting along there.
