2019 California vehicle laws just took it to the next level.

Get pulled over with an aftermarket exhaust?
used to be able to just throw on the stock one and pay like $15 for a ‘fix it’ ticket.
2019 -NOPE.
No more fixit ticket. Instead, a $1,000 ticket, go have a vehicle inspection at a state ref, and go see a judge.

I wonder if this makes a business opportunity for an aftermarket company to maybe manufacture CARB approved exhausts that do 80db.
Its RARE to find a header or exhaust that carries a CARB cert

I never understood what the hype was putting on some high pitch exhaust, rather a deep low tone,

as much as I hate commie fornia, I applaud this. My reason: years ago some **** bag was driving a crx and his exhuast was OBNOXIOUSLY loud. So loud it shook the windows . I'm not even bothered by many things but come on! stop being self ish. The other thing is motorcycles, or I should say harleys. Every ******* hear some **** bag in this neighborhood will literally blast his exhaust at full throttle! I can hear it 3/4 miles away!

Again, i'm not very picky but some people need to stop being selfish *****!

Yeah, if I can hear your exhaust or your stereo from more than 20 yards away, I can only assume you have some kind of insecurity issues.

Motorcycles are not exempt and neither are brodozers (over 6k lbs). They have their own requirements, just in a different code section. It's the enforcement that's lacking.

Vehicle Code 27202:

(2) After 1972, and before 1975 ........................

(3) After 1974, and before 1986 ........................

(4) After 1985 ........................

Vehicle Code 27204:

Nah, if I did anything it'd be getting another 1UZ with a blower, but it's unlikely I'll go that far with it.
