Did you get to a point where you thought it was a waste and went back to cleaning the house yourself or is it nice once you have kids and such and have even less time?

I remember someone brought it up awhile ago but I'm starting to feel it's a waste of money. For $300/ month think it's worth it just to clean the house yourself? How to talk the lady into it now though. Do I just hide a piece of her jewelry and say they have to go? jk jk

I'm not against it, some folks are too old to move around to get things done. They think 'oh it'll be ok, I'll take my time', and it end up getting dirty again before they even finish. Austin seems to be booming with maid service too.

can't speak on the kids part. I'd imagine that would be a lot tougher. bigger mess and less time to clean it.

but I couldn't justify $300/month with just 2 ppl + doggo. it's super quick and easy to sweep/vacuum the floors, and wipe the counters/stove/bathroom surfaces down, as long as you stay on top of it. the further you let it go, the harder it gets to get the motivation to clean it.

We have no kids and 1 small dog that doesn't shed, I can't even begin to think about hiring someone to clean.

All those hipsters who moved there figured out that they actually need a job to make money.

We have one that comes every two weeks ($140 each time). Worth every penny, and not just because we have two shedding dogs.

That's where I'm at, I feel I have so much free time I should probably just do it. Hell that's a new ND miata basically

Same price and interval. With two school-age children in multiple activities, it's been a yuge help. Wish we would have done it sooner.

I can only imagine how much the perceived value goes up with kids in the picture.

We use one on occasion. Once a month but it is only $80-100 I think.

Helps get a nice deep clean done on top of normal cleaning throughout the week.

120 every 3 weeks here. Worth every cent . They show up with a squadron of ladies and each gets a room or two.

I think it depends on what you value. We generally are pretty tidy people (we don't have **** everywhere), so picking up toys and other things isn't a large amount of work. We've had one deep clean since we bought our house 5 years ago, a crew of two spent 6 hours and it cost us $300. The house "felt clean" and smelled nice for a day or two but then things went back to normal. For me personally it's not worth it to have that done every month or multiple times a month. **** adds up.

I'd love to never have to do laundry or dishes again though...

At this point in our lives (no kids), I would not consider a housekeeper/cleaning service. Each week I spend about 20 minutes cleaning (and every day I do a little here and there, probably less than 5 minutes total) so the entire house is always rather clean. Given that, a housekeeper would be a waste of money.

Once I have kids and less time, then maybe I would consider it. Some of our friends with kids have them and it is a big help.

You guys with out one are dusting, cleaning all the windows, all bathrooms are hairless, mirrors clean, toilets spotless, all rugs and floors vacuumed and spotless, the oven and microwave are spotless, Etc? Bullshit. Worth every penny to have this stuff done periodically.

I used to have one, got divorced though and quickly realized that I in fact wasn't the messy once and didn't really need one

Everything except dusting and windows cleaned...yes. Didn't even hire cleaners before realtor pics. This is with no dusting and minimal vacuuming/steam mopping. Come at me.
