Default SUV recommendations

Hey Fellas,

In 2019 we're going to update the wife's SUV. From 06-12 she had a Honda Pilot. Then I talked her into another Pilot from 12-today. I don't think I can pull off the Honda Pilot trifecta, although I would love to.

So here we are.

- Prefer to buy a used 16-18 model.
- Prefer an import.
- 3rd row seating is great, but not a must have.
- 25+ MPG highway
- She already shot down a 4runner. Wants something "nice".
- I know I said import, but don't think I could buy an outof warranty Audi or VW.

Thoughts?

Yeah those are p nice too, was about to recommend that as well. I've gotten new ones as loaners a few times and they're really nice. Probably will last you an eternity too.

I agree with this choice that meets almost none of the criteria, but hey it's an SUV lol

Why not a 16-18 Pilot? Increased HP, Highway MPG is rated at 27 but I consistently get >31 when measured at the pump. Some models have Honda's safety suite, 18's have apple carplay. We went from a '16 EX to a '18 EX-L. I'd recommend the MDX too, however, I believe it requires premium fuel and has a higher depreciation rate compared to the Pilot. You do get better looking body style, much better and much better headlights.

I'd be great with another Pilot. I don't think she'd be. But we'll def look at one.

When she says "I want something something nice" it means "I want a premium brand". haha

So far the list to took at is Lexus RX, Acura MDX and maybe an Audi if I can get an extended bulltproof warranty. I struggle buying used German automobiles unless its a 911. hahaa

My only beef with Lexus/Toyota is that they're so far behind with Tech. Other than that, the RX is a nice little SUV

3 rows + 25mpg highway means theres only a handful of cars to chose from

pretty much mdx is the only thing thats going to work

believe it or not the tahoe/suburban gets 25 highway

Oh btw, I’ve been in many mdx’s. I’ve had loaners and I have 3 friends with them.

I had a loaner one time, I think it was a ‘16 or ‘17.

It was such a flaming pile of ****. The nvh was totally different from the rest. It felt like an mdx that was as shitty as a honda crv. I don’t know if it’s the base or the tech package that gets you the shitty one. But figure it out and stay away. Maybe it’s just the advanced package thats nice, i dunno
