The best thing about Star Wars is that it gives Redlettermedia more material.

The music and imagery bring out that insanely powerful feeling in me of childhood wonder...but as far as the narrative - what IS it? Where are they going? I wish they had a better story. CAUTIOUSLY optimistic on this one. I liked VII but hated VIII so, so much. It was by far the worst one.

I actually watched the prequels again recently and I enjoy them more these days. Maybe TLJ went so low it made the prequels look great in hindsight. Also slowly working through The Clone Wars, on season 3 now.

I don't understand why jedi can't fly. You can move spaceships with your brain, but can't pick your self up. gtfo.

It really is. The movie is dumb as fvck, hollow and contradictory even if you try to go along with the director's supposed intentions.

This. The last few have been terrible. The trilogy, storyline ect are dead and boring. Lucas was wise to sell the franchise.

We won’t ever know the original 3rd trilogy script that Lucas created.

Maybe it was this shitty,

I do believe in Lucas. It's his story. Here is my take off the deep end.

- Lucas create one Star Wars as part of the sci-fi craze. The story was suppose to end. But it was MF good that he had to make it a trilogy. Ok, that's the talent of a good movie maker. You right the beginning, the middle, and the end, only to make a movie somewhere in the middle. Lucas also change how film school is taught.

- Then Lucas got divorce. Winning for the wife. Now, he needs to make more movies. Wife have no claim to new movie money. Add 3 more movies to finish the story. That's ok, because that's part of his magic. Yes, I do believe he have story lines that we don't know about. But I do like how he wrapped it up with #6, death of DV.

- No one can blame him for cashing out. Selling his baby. Everyone got a price. This is FU money that us peasants can't even imagine.

- Disney watered it down to fit the corporate mission of selling more toys and making more money. There are some of my beef. C3PO and R2D2 has been pushed away because each C3PO toy = Lucas. He gets a cut. If we need new robots so each dollar stays with Disney, not Lucas. The same with characters. Kill them all off. Star Wars is too boyish. So add equality, the main star is a girl. Girl Power. And let's make Lando with questionable sexual preferences. This is not a knock on anyone groups. Why make Star Wars PC?

- IIRC, #6 was PG-13. Because Lucas wanted to show the dark side. That was important to tell the story. And it was spot on, in terms of rating where fans can feel it. That would never fly with Disney. It would scare the 4 year old, and mom would never take him to Disneyland again. That's lost revenue of a few thousand dollars.

- For the OG fans, I think we are stuck. Disney will automatically get my money. I'm buying all and any DVD they slap the Star Wars label on. It's a must because I have to, as a fan. Yes, I'm going to Disneyland.

- Like F&F, I'm committed for life. But in some ways, I really do want to story to end. I love F&F, but it needs to end.

- Yes, I would also like to hear what Lucas really had planned for his version of the trilogy. I don't know if we will ever know. I'm sure Disney have access, but they will pick and choose and add milk and honey to sweeten it.

So torn. I'm tired of having my heart broken.

I love the originals (4-6).
I want to retcon 1-3.
I grew up reading the EU material that DID get retconned, thanks Uncle George.
I really liked 7.
I absolutely loved Rogue One.
I liked the premise of Solo, but aside from the scene where Chewie busts out and Donald Glover (inspired casting imho), the film was drudgery.
I really hated 8. Like "where is a spoon so I can gouge out my eyes" hated.

I don't want to feel this pain anymore.

If you want to know whatís what read the books. The worst part about Star Wars is the fans who insist on being miserable at all costs.
