just made me research it and compare it to saturn v
saturn v is such a beast lol

Falcon heavy - 230ft tall, 199k lb payload to low earth orbit, 8227KN thrust
Saturn V - 363ft tall, 310k lb payload to low earth orbit, 34,000KN thrust

If only it had to do with Mars.

In a way it does. I realize this specific launch is not to/for Mars, but it keeps them on the same path toward that goal. If this is successful it will help that project too (in my understanding).

If they took volunteers to go up there on a one way trip with zero chance of return I would 100% be one of the first people to sign up.

I want to wake up on Mars and then walk over to tomato garden in which I have developed 55 generations to grow in their slightly modified soil, deal with heart and eye issues because of less gravity, then repair my AI robot...instead I'm stuck in this stupid dark timeline... :/

Mars and pretty much every other goal we have in space depends on one thing - the cost to get mass out of our atmosphere and gravity

reducing the cost to a point will have this compound effect of making space travel cheaper and cheaper as we can actually build more in space, it's why science nerds are so excited about what space X is doing.

Also basically game over when we can mine materials from other bodies of matter in our solar system (which is actually easier than you would think, digging a hole with a shovel in 20% gravity will feel like a walk in the park in comparison to earth)

It does. Most of what this tech advancement is for is to eventually go to Mars. He has a boner over it. Or maybe itís just a rich person thing where being the first is a nice banquet conversation starter.

Maybe there is and we just don't know about it yet. That's why we need to go up there and check.

How could would it be to be on a hike and come across Voyager laying dormant or happen upon countless failed landings from other countries?

Yes, there's water on the moon and it has a crazy low escape velocity so it's a viable outpost for further missions beyond the asteroid and kuiper belt. We need to send something to Makemake!

We want to detect life, microbial atleast, and robots suck ***** compared to humans at this point. The remaining 80% of the reason is so the human civiliation can be like whatup *************, we made it to another planet...

You may already unsterstand this, but one of the issues with moon/mars travel a lot of people don’t reliaze, is slowing down to land the craft. It takes a shitload of energy to accelerate a space craft to get to speed to visit another planet, and when you need to stop on that planet with no atmosphere, it takes the same amount of energy to slow down. Landing on earth from space is actually easy as **** comparatively since the atmosphere acts as the brakes.

Traveling from earth to moon= **** tons of energy
Traveling from moon to earth = easy peasy

I agree, it's a big **** you to whomever put us here (if you believe in that stuff). Yet, the universe laughs right back, because there's no way man will leave the milky way. Unless a super genius comes and solves that problem.

"Time" is not a line and existence is not linear.

Hawking speculates that an infinite number of possibilities already exist in reality.
