Default Shoes on the carpet at home. yes or no?

My friend came over and walked on my carpet with his shoes on and thought it was the weirdest thing. So it made me want to know what is everyone's opinion on this subject.

No shoes option means that you DO NOT wear shoes on the carpet

Shoes option means that you wear shoes on the carpet

When I move out of my apt and into a house, I will have the "no shoes on the carpet" rule. At one of my friends houses who is asian, all their shoes are left outside on the front porch. Its wierd seeing several pairs of shoes all lined up perfectly on the front porch.

Shoes are ment to be walked on dirty surface.
Carpet are clean and made for non shoe walking.
If you go to someones house and see shoes outside the door. It means you should take off your shoes.
One of my friend step on something gressy and now i have a huge black stain on my carpet

haha... does this ever happen to anyone? you take off your shoes when entering someone elses house without thinking and later on someone notices that you are the only one without shoes. happens to my friends and i all the time whether it be one of us or a few of us that have our shoes off.

I never understood any household that allowed shoes and **** around their house.

Shoes are ******* dirty. Leave them outside.

I'm not asian and I would prefer to have no shoes on at my house, BUT our big dog and 2 cats makes it pointless.
Once I'm out on my own, no shoes.

I have hardwood floors so I wear shoes. Everyone I know that has carpet leaves their shoes on. Except this one time I went to my aunts and she had new carpet, I got pissed because I couldn't wear my shoes in her house. Never been back since.

Won't your shoes get stolen if you leave them outside? You people that leave them outside, do you leave them out there over night, or bring them in?

Most houses I can think of have tile/wood right inside the front door so most people I know leave shoes in there or if they go in through the garage they can leave them in there.

Shoes come off at the door but neatly put away in the closet with a couple puff's of Febreze.

I grew up where it was no shoes in the house. Shoes get gross **** on them, I don't want them on my clean carpets and floors. My GF is Vietnamese and its always the law of the land to take off shoes. I know I'm Asian on the inside, so I take off my shoes before entering anyone elses house.

Usually at an Asian house I always take my shoes off. Unless they say it's okay or if they walk on the carpet w/ shoes on them self.

But most of the time I take my shoes off. It's just a cultural thing I guess. I was raised that way.

Hmm.. Shoes in the house must be an American thing.

I'm in Canada and I can honestly say I don't know anybody who thinks it's ok to walk around their house or anybody's house with shoes on.

Besides that I hate shoes... I'd rather walk around the house with them off anyway, much more comfortable.
