Breakdown of Tesla earnings call. Nothing terribly exciting here.

Finally got a track comparison featuring the Model 3 against some plausible competition. Although it took a Chinese auto show to do it:

https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-mode...-battle-video/

It should be noted that this track in China is supposedly rather tight and technical, so not a high speed track that favors horsepower. Times are:

Nissan GTR 01:15.23
Ferrari 488 GTB 01:16.31
Tesla Model 3 Performance 01:18.62
Mercedes C63 AMG 01:20.23
BMW M3 01:22.67
Followed by two Chinese electric SUVs, the NIO ES8 and the BYD DM

predictable time

I took the m3p on a very hard low speed turn. Corner exit from like a 30-40 mph turn was insane.

M3 prolly beat it on a high speed turn

Nikola Motors now claims they will offer all electric versions of their hydrogen semi. This company is just all over the map.

Haven't had a chance to watch all of this yet, but I did notice there were some updates in the comments if you do watch.

Grazy rumor that GM is working on an electric truck with a Tesla powertrain: https://cleantechnica.com/2019/02/12...FSLOAloYzFDH_g

That is the coolest thing I've heard in a while. I would TOTALLY move to a Tesla powered GMC.

I expect it might be in the neighborhood of $70-80k or more though.

Great, two companies that make shitty cars with fantastic powertrains. Wonder how thatís going to turn out.

But yeah, Iíd imagine itís pretty tough to supply 100+kwh batteries for a million trucks.

Yeah but if you buy today they’ll take $15k off

Better in a GMC than a Ford.

If powertrain is out of the equation Iíll take a ford over a gm anyday. iíd take a ram over both of them.

Have you seen their latest interiors? Ram interior might as well be 10 years ahead.

Rams will fall apart, Ram engines and transmissions are some of the best on the market but everything attached to them is Dodge.

And the F150 isn't a whole lot better.

Why waste money on R/D when you know there is a company doing it effectively. I mean toyota is working with bmw on the supra.

If this is true it's genius on both companies' part.

GM gets the cool factor of being in business with Tesla and Tesla gets the loyalty of the #2 selling vehicle in America. Neither one has to spend a fortune for R&D either.

It really is quite brilliant if true.

Brings business to both, only thing is Tesla will have to produce hardware for their models as well as GMC.

Not sure if you guys watched those tesla breakdown videos. But they are legit in their electronics department. The battery/motor/circuit boards tech is legit state of the art. So it is good they are partnering with someone that has mastered mass profuction.

Hopefully the paint stick mid still works with a Tesla powertrain.

LOL, GM isn't going to sell a million of these things, even if Tesla could supply components for that many. Much like how they got LG to supply most of the Bolt components, this is a way for them to get a foot in the door quickly with a relatively small number of sales.
