That's an expensive way to make a kit car more fun

The Volt battery packs were actually fairly cheap on the salvage market the last time I looked. I'm not sure how much the Tesla drive units go for used though.

Either way, I'm sure they have much less into it than the price of a new Model S.

I am not 100% sure, but I think batteries are more likely to degrade faster if they output a larger current. If they output a lower current it might not degrade so bad.

It is dependent on a number of factors, and yes charge and discharge current is one of the factors. It basically comes down to how much stress the cells are under. This is why Tesla puts such a big priority on things like temperature control.

That instant torque is insane.. If the model 3 runs low 13s from factory, there will be alot of drag racing in the streets..lol

The video of the 818 kit car I posted a few posts up is a great demonstration of that. It REALLY takes off from the line.

I hope due to size/weight the model 3 runs faster than the model s. I doubt they'll let it happen but I can only hope.

I would be surprised if it is faster. I suspect the Performance Model 3 will have two of the less powerful motors that are in the front of the AWD Model S.

Yep, I've been following Mate for quite a while now. He used to be quite active on the DIY Electric Car forum when he was building his BMW conversion, back before he started his company. Its amazing how far he has come.
