Default rowing for a million

I have been doing crossfit on and off for about 2 years now. One part I really enjoy is rowing. The other day the thought of rowing a million meters came into mind. Why? I have no clue. I looked into it on concept's website and what do you know there is even a club for this. I started going over the numbers to do 1 million meters in a year. 1mil by 365/days= 2739m/day and 1mil by 261(5days a week) =3831/day. Both those numbers are not large each day but my fear is the everyday thing. If i miss a day to stay on track for one year that number adds up really quick. On long distant my pace is about 1:55 so it should take me in the range of 8-10mins/day. If you have never rowed you dont know how hard a pace like that for 10 mins is. My biggest issue thats keeping me from just jumping on the rower and starting is WHY. I dont know why I want to do this and if I dont have a why I see it hard to follow through. Yes obviously there is the positive results of the exercise but I need something more. I asked my wife about rowing for a charity to raise money but we didnt know where to start with that. So what does the good ole htgdd say? Other than move this to the fitness section so it can be viewed by all of 8 people? Oh and I am married with a 2 year old and another on the way in sept. So time is not as free as it was when I was single and 20.

Edit: this is indoor rowing on a concept2 rower

You must not have rowed "long distance" for enough time then, lol.... I rowed crew in highschool and loved it. My splits back then were about 2:10, but I was a weak *** 130lb high schooler.

The fall season consisted of long distance rowing (5k races) and spring was all about drag racing so to speak, short distance 2k races. The spring season was more fun, all the boats staged and started at the same time which was very intense.

I say go for it, you can easily row more than 3k meters per day and achieve the million meter club sooner.

Just chiming in here about your "WHY" comment. You don't need a reason. Just set yourself a personal goal and do it. It's the same with any workout goal, whether you want to get to a certain weight, or lift a specific amount.

ERG it up man! Don't be a wuss and put the fan resistance thing to level 0 though, gotta have some level of resistance!

Also focus on form.. drive hard with your legs, pull the handle high into your chest, then on the forward stroke drop your hands to your stomach and keep your legs flat until your arms go past your knees.. rinse/repeat. I would hate for you to actually get on the water someday and have terrible, terrible form.

Also - gold bond helps with the ball-chafing.

The person sitting next to me who was a collegiate rower says this is easy and you're basically a bitch if you can't easily do over 5k every day.

Says he would break 1:40 if he was only doing 5k, and would be in the 1:45 range for a 5k split in 20k row, 20k rest, 20k row training.

Collegiate rower I am not. I also assume your friend doesnt have a fulltime job with a wife and 1/ 1/2 kids. Even if he did my goal is not to race to a million rather just get to a million in the year. I would be happy if i did 3000m/day @ 2:00 split. Again this is not so much about a crazy fast split but more of reaching the distance

I like rowing better then running at xfit. Though I tend to row a bit slower and concentrate on my for 100% I love to get that quad snap so that my arms do little work. We just got 2 ski-erg's. Those things SUCK!!
