So does that mean the regular Rubicon doesn't have CarPlay?

Regarding the Uconnect headunit, if its anything like what these guys did a while back an extra 500 won't hurt.

Demuro is a strange guy.

If you knew nothing about him and watched one of his videos, you'd think he was a non-car guy that accepted a random job on Craigslist as a car reviewer and the video you watched was his the first one he ever made.

And like a previous poster said, I don't like his videos but still end up watching some of them. He kinda reminds me of this gun guy on YouTube called nutnfancy except I don't watch that guy's videos at all.

Edit: I think I posted in the wrong thread. HT's garage talk app is wonky.

Heres a link of folks swapping in the 8.4 head unit, this looks like they swapped it into 2018s.

shamoo it's an option you must pick once you "build" your jeep. V6 is standard, turbo 4 is $1000 extra. 8 speed auto is $2000 extra. **** adds up fast on this thing.

I was too busy driving it to notice if it has CarPlay? I would hope so but didn't even mess with it to be honest.

Nice. But looks like there's some random stuff that doesn't work. I'm not too keen on changing up a brand new vehicle and making some functions not work.

But hey...at least people are looking into it.

Ah got it, thanks.

Wonder which one is the more popular engine. I think I would want whatever the manual option is (if that exists).

I think you can get either in a manual. I know the v6 for sure.

You can get the 6MT with either engine.

Is it a ZF8?

I know the Cherokees had that and those trannys are nothing but problems.

Eh, I'm not to concern with the auto temp control, manual control is fine for me. That is if I get a Rubicon..

I would walk away from Jeep. The best Jeep was the 4.0L Inline 6 and you can't get that motor anymore. I had (2) Jeep the XJ with the I6 4.0L 2dt Cherokee Sport and the WJ 4.7L V8 Grand Cherokee Limited. I was looking into a JK Rubicon Wrangler and for that price range I can get something allot better.

Fyi I have a ram 2500 promaster van with the pentastar v6. Not a bad little motor. I’ve put thousands of pounds worth of cargo in that thing and it moves it pretty well. Sounds like complete **** but it never feels underpowered. Been pretty reliable too. Can’t say I’d prefer the 4.0 straight 6 to it

It's surprisingly easy to fit 37/38's on a JL

I've been doing crazy research on these things recently.

So the new JL you have the option of a road tire or an offroad tire that's 33". In stock form, it easily fits a 35" tire which was their intention. But anything larger, they recommended their Mopar/dealer 2" lift kit.

I did see a few videos where they were able to put in a 37" or 38" without any mods. And I think it is fine if you're just driving on gravel roads, but if you're going to get into any serious articulation, that's too big.

EDIT: Priced out a Rubicon with nearly everything I would potentially want. $51,140. I mean a fully loaded Subaru Outback is like $47K so it is close. Same with the 4Runner TRD PRo.

I mean it is a great vehicle and they hold their value well. Virtually unchanged for years because it works.

EDIT: I mean it was $51K because I added like everything. Leather seats, nav, better stereo, metallic color, 3 piece hard top, etc.

virtually unchanged other than MSRP

I bet with discounts though it would seem a lot more reasonable

All cars have gotten more expensive over the last decade. Look at your basic Civic. Base price up about $5K since 2010. Wrangler Rubicon up about $9K.

I bet you can get that 51k MSRP down to 45k without even breaking a sweat. I test drove the 58k one and they dropped it to 52k before we even sat down lol
