I bought my 09 r6 in October right as our first snow storm was rolling in (from Calgary driving back to Edmonton). I had a 2 hour drive home and was literally outrunning a massive snow storm in my rear views. It was cold but worth it. Just layer up, take some breaks. Make sure to pay attention to road conditions, you know, all the obvious stuff. Just stay extra vigilant. Ignore people saying an 08 is a bad buy etc. What most people don't realize is 15-20k miles on a bike is nothing. You just barely got your first valve lash done. I use to see sport bikes being brought into our shop with 80k+ miles on them running perfectly. Remember, these are very, very well engineered motors. Just make sure you take care of them and they can last you a long time.

So i talked to some folks on the gixxer forums. They told me not to go for that specific bike because the panels arent original. I decided to heed their warning.
to whoever on here suggested a buell.... i think i am gonna crack. Ive scheduled for a buell to be delivered this weekend from the chicago suburbs. Ill post a pic if i lock it in. Went for the final gen firebolt so i get all the upgrades they did in '08

That was me who suggested a Firebolt, what color scheme is it, and I fully intend on riding up to you for a test ride, love an XB.

It still isn't official yet because we are working through difficulties meeting up, but the bike is a 2008, basically mint from what I can see in video, white paint with blue wheels. At first I didn't really care for it but the more I look at the way the blue sparkles and contrasts against the white, the more its tugging at my heart

White and blue is amazing in person, my #2 right after the red/orange color combo. You won’t be disappointed, man. All the tech, the agility of the bike, the soul of the “Thunderstorm” 1200.

yeah the red/gold was my first choice but it seems that combo was only available on the earlier models, and after reading the list of upgrades buell gave the firebolt in 2008, i couldn't help but steer my focus towards an 08+ model, and I only want the 1203, not the 984. I'm sure the 984 is a good bike too but I want all the ponies i can get

The impulse purchase is taking over. Go check it out, test ride it, walk away, tell dude you're gonna give it 24 hours besides you decide to buy. Make sure you really want it.

The Buell 1203 is just shy of bomb proof, presuming it’s 100% it’s unlikely the OP won’t like it. Firebolts are a sensational ride.

hey caoboy that's what we are gonna do. after a whole episode of issues getting a ride, and then arranging a delivery, and then having that delivery fall through last minute, and then rearranging a ride to get there.... gonna wake my *** up early tomorrow and get to chicago by 9 or 10am and bring my money and about six coats and six pairs of gloves.

Ok so i always knew buell was special. Never knew why. And honestly i still have no ******* clue. But theres something about this bike, like it has a prescence about it. It only took 40 miles to get my first compliment, someone ogling at a stoplight said it was tge hottest bike he ever seen.

when i showed up this morning and got on, that jardine exhaust was perfect. Loud bassy rumble that doesnt make your ears sore, sounds like an actual performance weapon, not a raspy harley. When i first took it down the road i was like **** **** **** **** **** because the power is on demand off idle! The gsxr was faster, but this buell will rip your *** off the seat from 2000 rpm and have you over 90 in no time. The rear brake felt dull but the front was very crisp. Gearbox was leagues above harley davidson gearboxes, and vibrations.... what vibrations? TBH there werent many to be felt. Whoever said this would be the best smiles per mile bike was spit on. Sweet baby jesus its fast, its gorgeous, and it sounds so sweet. I know i sound like a fanboy already but its hard to explain these emotions.a bike never had a soul to me before, but this one does.

after a 2 hour ride home i put my flashlight back in all the crevices to look for leaking hoses or seals that may have been hidden by a quick clean prior to the sale, but every nook and cranny is spotless, all the rubber looks really fresh, there is no corrosion or fading on any of the metal or plastic pieces, i imagine if i washed it, it could pass for brand new. I really love the note of this jardine exhaust, it has such a commanding tone that sounds so much different than any harley exhaust i have ever heard.

At minimum do a full fluid flush and replace your brake lines with SS. Lube the clutch cable too.

He told me he did ALL the fluids when i mentioned de-winterizing it. I was like really? Hes like yup, oil tranny brakes.. etc. So i suppose i wont know? As for that clutch cable, dont you just spray the dry lube down the cable tube and pump the lever a bunch? I did it once on my harley but forgot the procedure
