dang two commas is like millions, hell no. if i had millions in savings i would be better served sinking that into the market, not tying it into a 0.01% interest rate savings account.

You are going to struggle to get a dealer to let you ride a 600cc. We generally would not allow anyone unless they rode in on one or had previous experience. Even the ones who did we would only let them test ride a bike after they agreed on numbers and agreed to making a deal. All will ride similar and a dealer doesn't care if you don't know what the powerband is like, because if you are in the powerband on the street with a 600cc bike you can get their bike impounded. All you need to do is sit on the bike to know if it will work for you. Also why not buy from a dealer instead of a private individual if they have the bike you want?

Because he sold his R3 for probably 3k at most and is trying to buy a 600 for not much more than that

see, im having trouble finding a quality bike in my price bracket at dealers, but have no issues finding them private party. Obviously its no secret that dealers need to make a profit to keep the lights on, so naturally their prices seem to be a bit higher than the private market.
As for the test ride, I'm sure youre right, but maybe I got lucky last time I walked into the dealer in town. I rode in on my harley and was able to lock in a test ride on a 07 gsxr 600, and that was unescorted. They said theyd let me go out alone and so i did.... I was surprised to be honest, because like you said its not something most dealers are willing to do, handing the keys to some random shmuck that walks in the doors.

I did get 3k for my bike, which is good, and I'm gonna add in 1-2 grand more from my savings to lock in a quality bike. I've found plenty with under 10k miles and no body damage, etc etc. I just have so many options I dont wanna jump to the first good deal and miss out on something potentially better that may show up the week after

So i found an 05 gsxr-600 that looks mint, has like 8000 miles (low), new tires new chain new exhaust etc. Garage kept, i got a cold start video of it. Its in my budget but its 2.5 hrs away. Im gonna do a VIN check for recalls through the suzuki database, but is there anything else i should be looking for on tgese besides the basics? Is this a bad year?

lol

im only asking because maybe someone here has owned one, worked on one, or just is more knowledgeable than myself on these matters. Yes its an older sport bike but if the miles are low, the seals and gaskets arent leaking and the tires and chain are new then really what else do i have to worry about? Im curious if theres something sneaky to look out for since my buying experiences with bikes are relatively few in comparison to cars

Is it at a dealer? Else how you gonna get it home? Not supposed to get borderline riding weather for another week, and the forecast will change 9 times by then.

Have you ridden in the cold before? Riding 15 minutes to work, wearing gloves, my hands feel like I punched a brick wall 50 times if the temp is 45, anything less in dark is a big NOOOOOOOOPE. You are going to regret riding the whole way after less than 10% of the trip guaranteed.

Best road trip bike is Goldwing. Not so good for wheelies tho.

Ya'll need to get on my dad's level. Sun is out, no ice on roads? Bike time. 20 degrees? Np, have 3 layers and coveralls. Nothing will stop bike time.*

*I do not endorse this behavior and deny any implication that it is safe or wise
