Obviously you are capable of doing this, I mean your mud room project came out great.

Electrical/HVAC/plumbing are things I pay professionals for. Too much can go wrong if it's installed incorrectly. The dent to my net worth is acceptable for the risk reduction.

I feel like that's wrong, not much can really go wrong, all it takes is a little YouTube and some trying and you'll be fine.

Not much on say a thermostat can really go wrong if it's installed wrong, it's low voltage, maybe more so if you configure something awfully it will kill something in the furnace but that's highly unlikely.

But I feel you, guess whatever works for you.

I just replaced my humidifier last fall with one I ordered from here:

https://www.sylvane.com/aprilaire-humidifiers.html

I paid an HVAC guy $50 under-the-table to install it for me. Going through an actual company and half of them didn't want to install "my parts" and the others wanted like $150 - $200 to do so.

HVAC is a huge racket, just like plumbers. Thank goodness we have youtube now as some of that stuff is incredibly easy to do.

I guess our point is that this doesnt count as electrical anymore than say plugging in a tv doesnt count, or connecting a sprinkler counts as plumbing. Surely you can match colored wires together.

for me it's taping drywall. elec/hvac/plumbing are actually my favorite things to work on.

there's a guy who will build a concrete shower pan for me for $250 which is tempting af, but I still think I want to try it myself because I want to learn it.

Only electrical Iíve paid for was a nema 14-50 installed in the garage. Pro under the table and less than half what a company would cost me. Ended up sending his info to other electric vehicle owners and all have been happy with his work.

plumbing and dry wall mudding are the only things Iíll pay for.

Dang at $250 I’d pay and watch. It wasn’t bad but I can tell the slight imperfections.

Which one did you buy?
I have the 700 and it seems a bit antiquated, trying to figure out what to replace it with when we do the furnace and all in the next year.
That is very true, when we had the counters done, it included a new sink, I assumed they would also do the plumbing for the sink, when I asked they said no but we can do it for you for $450!!!!!!!
I laughed and like $12 in purple primer and some PVC later it was done.

Well said there, the worst part of installing my Ecobee was picking a wire color from the strand for the Common wire.

At least bauley has skills like making jokes on the internet.
