I know what NYT article this refers to, and it’s getting torn to shreds.

He should pocket all that wall money and flee for Mexico. Then say "if we had a wall, I wouldn't have been able to steal from you."

LOL. Keep drinking the Hannity Kool-Aid.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/20...yoL/story.html

Fox News host Sean Hannity, an ardent critic of Robert Mueller’s investigation into whether President Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election, has recently cast aspersions on Mueller’s tenure as a federal prosecutor in Boston decades ago.

Hannity has tried to link Mueller to New England’s most notorious organized crime figure: James “Whitey” Bulger. In one segment, Hannity presented a sarcastic chart, dubbed “The Mueller Crime Family?” that listed Bulger as a member.

During one opening monologue this week, Hannity said it doesn’t seem to matter how “rogue” Mueller is. “It doesn’t matter what he did with Whitey Bulger.” He also said that while Mueller was a prosecutor in Boston, there were “four men, wrongfully imprisoned for decades, framed by an FBI informant and notorious gangster Whitey Bulger, all while Mueller’s office looked the other way.”

...

So what’s Hannity talking about, and is what he said true? Here is what we know about Mueller’s record on those matters during his time in Boston.

What involvement did Mueller have with Bulger?

None.

Federal judge rebuffs claims by Hannity, Limbaugh of Mueller involvement in FBI scandal
BY MAX GREENWOOD - 04/19/18 11:46 AM EDT

The federal judge who presided over a case surrounding one of the FBI's most notorious scandals in recent years chided conservative media personalities Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh for trying to tie special counsel Robert Mueller to the episode.

In an op-ed published by The New York Times on Wednesday, retired U.S. District Judge Nancy Gertner rebuffed suggestions by Hannity, Limbaugh and others that Mueller was complicit in the wrongful imprisonment of four men to protect the identity of Whitey Bulger, a former gangster and FBI informant.

Gertner, who presided over a lawsuit brought by two of the imprisoned men and the families of two others who died in prison, wrote that there was no evidence to suggest that Mueller was involved in the scandal.

"I was unsparing in my criticism of the FBI and Justice Department officials who were responsible for this wrongful imprisonment. I named names where the record supported it," she wrote. "I resoundingly condemned the government in an unusual court session in which I read my conclusions."

"Mr. Mueller is mentioned nowhere in my opinion; nor in the submissions of the plaintiffs’ lead trial counsel, Juliane Balliro; nor in 'Black Mass,' the book about Mr. Bulger and the FBI written by former reporters for The Boston Globe."

Mueller served in the U.S. attorney's office in Boston, where the scandal occurred, from 1982 to 1988. He currently serves as the special counsel investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election, including possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, which makes him a popular target in right-leaning media.

Gertner said that Hannity, Limbaugh and others were "simply wrong" in their assertions that Mueller had something to do with the wrongful imprisonment scandal.

"When Mr. Hannity and others say Mr. Mueller was responsible for the continued imprisonment of those four men, they are simply wrong — unless they have information that I, Ms. Balliro, the House investigators and the 'Black Mass' authors did not and do not have," Gertner wrote in the Times.

"If they do, they should produce it. If they don’t, they should stop this campaign to discredit Mr. Mueller."

NEW YORK (AP) — An executive at a San Diego television station that accused CNN of rejecting an appearance by one of its reporters for political reasons conceded Friday he didn’t really know why the network turned him down.

After CNN reached out to KUSI-TV to see if reporter Dan Plante would come on the air Thursday to talk about how a border barrier was working in the San Diego area, the segment never happened. CNN said plans change all the time, and that the network chose to have its own reporters talk about border security. But KUSI saw other motivations.

Steve Cohen, KUSI’s news director, said he told CNN that it might not want Plante because his reporting has concluded that a border wall there has worked well, and that such a conclusion might not fit the cable network’s “narrative” against the wall. He said he never got a call back.

Cohen decided to inform KUSI’s viewers of the alleged rejection.

“We believe CNN declined a report from KUSI because we informed them that most border patrol agents we have spoken to told us the barrier does in fact work,” the station said on its web site, and followed up with a report on its air.

“They didn’t like what they heard from us,” anchor Anna Laurel said.

CNN said it had also reached out to reporters at other local stations about a possible segment but didn’t follow through when the plans changed. “This happens many times every single day,” the network said in a statement. “This is a non-story.”

Cohen said he never actually spoke to anyone about CNN about why Plante wasn’t used.

“It’s certainly plausible that they didn’t want it for the viewpoint, or they just didn’t want it,” he said. “Both are plausible conclusions. I made one rather than the other.”

KUSI-TV is unaffiliated with any broadcast network and owned by McKinnon Broadcasting Co. Its general manager, Michael McKinnon, was described by the San Diego Business Journal as a “longtime supporter of conservative causes and candidates in the San Diego area.”

CNN noted that it had aired another report from KUSI about border security in November.
