Default Pi Day 2019

It’s not irrational to find pizzas for $3.14 Thursday.

March 14 is Pi Day, an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi), which is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. The trillion-digit ratio is rounded to 3.14.

Albert Einstein was born on Pi Day and last year noted astrophysicist Stephen Hawking died on the made-up holiday.

Pi Day, not to be confused with Pie Day held in January, is a day with deals on pizza, pastry and pot pies.

Aside from calculating your savings, it's a day to have fun with math too, said Syracuse University mathematics professor Graham Leuschke. He said you can search for your birthday in the digits of π and can create a "pi-ku" similar to a haiku poem.

PiDay.org, which calls itself the official site for Pi Day, has additional ideas for activities to celebrate the day.

Pi Day pizza deals

Here are the deals available at participating locations Thursday unless otherwise noted. To be on the safe side, always check with your closest location before heading out. Also, some will require you to have a restaurant's app or be signed up for emails.

Guy at work brings in 'cup-pies" every 3-14.
Little 2 or 3 bite pies like cupcakes for the people that don't like cake (me).
This year lineup is blueberry, peanut butter, and orange.

He always has an elaborate email that gets blasted to invite people to partake in the goodies - funny stuff!

"Is a low body mass causing your personal gravitational field strength to be low? Is this increasing your risk of hurtling off the Earth into the cold, empty void of space? Does a feeling of "not good" on your taste buds leave the rest of you feeling "not good" as well?

If so, ask your health care professional if pie is right for you.

A randomized double-blind crossover trial showed that pie increased the level of "fat and happy" by ever so much vs patients treated with doughnuts. A twist in the study simultaneously uncovered significant corruption and malfeasance within the administration of said doughnuts. See the Cruller Investigation published in JAMA.

Don't take pie if you're allergic to pie. Just stand next to the pies, looking sad and hate-filled, stink-eyeing the pie eaters whilst munching dry dandelion greens and angrily muttering to yourself 'This is just as good.'*

Side effects of pie may include nausea, upset stomach, diarrhea, incontinence, continence, intermittent glitter farting, dizziness, dry mouth, blurry vision, that thing after you poop where you wipe and you wipe and you wipe and it just never stops and it's like you're wiping a brown marker, headache, muscle aches, hives , bees, geriatric profanity disorder (or GPD), supplemental neck, and irrational contentment."

Some ladies in our office bring in around 10 pies every 3/14, I think they are from Baker's Square. Pretty good stuff.... had a piece of the french silk for breakfast.
