Default Official Road Bike Thread

No love for road bikes in the mountain bike thread, so here we go. Just bought this sucker yesterday, but I won't get to ride it for another 5 or 6 weeks.

It's a 2006 Scott CR1 Limited, the frame weighs 880 grams in a 54cm, although mines a 58. It's also incredibly stiff, which will help since I'll be riding mostly in the Alps. I can't wait to get on it during my next vacation.

I'm turning an old rockhopper into a road bike. So I can post in both threads.

I haven't found one yet, but I don't have to travel with it until mid-August, so I'll worry about it a bit later. You want to part with yours?

Cool. Finally a road bike thread.I just re-post the pics from my recent vacation in the MTB thread here.

The bike is a Bianchi C Freccia Celeste,Mavic SL wheels, full Campy Record drivetrain with the exception of the crank. It is a Chorus Ultra Torque.

Here are some mountain pics.Me climbing to the top of Beech Mountain,NC over the weekend.
Wife snapped this on the way up.Nasty switchback.

Almost to the top.

Around that bend and you can't go any higher.

Kookz, that scott is nice.Good choice in components too.

Mine is about 20-25 pounds. Very light for the size. It's huge, I'm 5'7" and it comes up to my chest.

I really miss my bike.

I sold it before I moved but the roads around here are so big and flat, I could ride forever.

I'm thinking of getting a fixed gear this time.

I have a fixed gear, its fun to ride around on the roads here. The hills have been hell on my legs though.

nice I just posted a road bike related question today in the MTB thread. What do you guys think of the Fuji Newest 4.0 2008? Just looking for an entry-level bike. What`s the best place online to buy new bikes with some great deals? Also I need some links for some frame sizing.

Since I don't own it anymore I won't take offense to that statement.

Check out your LBS and test ride some bikes.

I just learned the somewhat hard way that you get what you pay for. I was on a 400 dollar Hardrock, and it wasn't very pleasing. This is a mtn bike, of course; not sure about road bikes.

That is even more true with road bikes.A $1,500 MTB is a decent ride.$1,500 typically doesn't get you much of a road bike.

Feel kinda weird posting this after those 2 bikes but I picked this up a few months ago for $46 (ebay):

I've always wanted to get a bigger bike just to see how I liked it and I figured I'd pick up something cheap so I wouldn't be out anything if I hated it. So far it's a lot of fun, kind of like riding my bmx bike but I get places faster and can't hop curbs.
