CA > Every Other State

There are some dumb policies in place for sure, but still is the best place to live all around. Also, that map....looks like everyone is moving to Riverside county (while still probably working in LA and Orange county).

Your car laws alone make moving there a non-starter for me.

California has among the highest taxes in the nation. Its base sales tax rate of 7.5% is higher than that of any other state, and its top marginal income tax rate of 13.3% is the highest state income tax rate in the country.
And we still out of money

Don't think there's any other place in the US where I can live and drive 45 min from my house to the beach and it'll be 90 degrees there, or I can drive 45 min and be up in the mountains snowboarding in 30 degree weather, all in the same day.

In fact, doing that today

Can’t afford rental properties haha. All the homes near the lakes are expensive, all the crap homes by the college are expensive cause they rent per room to the kids, and the stuff in the county is expensive because they have land. Hoping for the bubble to burst

Oh yeah and I forgot the ocean view properties. Nope x 10 lol.

I'm within a 3 hour drive of 5 different road courses. Pretty sure that's more tracks than the entire state of California.

LOL, I almost posted in the OP about how less than 1% of the state's population has ACTUALLY gone surfing in the morning and skiing in the evening.

******' Drama.

To bad the beach sucks there. cold *** water. I'll take the FL beaches. or live somewhere where there's a nice lake and a mountain. That's car friendly, gun friendly, tax friendly, and conservative.

A few years ago did the same. Slept at friends Big Bear cabin. Did a couple of runs. Came home. Met up with homies and road our bikes down PCH. Then had a couple beers with dinner in NPB. ******* love CA.

We were in Santa Monica this morning checking on one of our rental properties, then drove up to Big Bear, which is where I'm at right now.

Sadly, the drive to either the beach of the mountains are almost shorter than going to a good outdoor shooting range in the LA area.... which all suck in one way or another. Good areas out in BLM areas next to Barstow, but then that's a good 1.5 hour drive each way

https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/01/...ng-apartments/

A generation of tenants now sees itself as rent-poor, with every last dime doled out for gas, groceries and the landlord. Renters struggle throughout the Bay Area. In San Jose, the median monthly rent for a two-bedroom apartment is now $2,550, far above the national average of $1,560. A similar two-bedroom flat can cost even more elsewhere: $3,080 in Walnut Creek and $4,910 in Cupertino, according to a recent report.

As the Bay Area’s economy booms, and as the tech sector continues to expand, this is the new normal for those on the margins: shrinking expectations and shrinking apartments. Nearly 40 percent of working adults in the Bay Area are now “doubled up” with roommates in order to afford rent, according to a study from Zillow.
