Default Office chairs

So I just found out from my admin that I can have a chair ordered for my office to replace the cheap janky one I have currently.

I asked what the office chair budget was and the answer given was "as long as it isn't too expensive, I'll order it."

Being that the company is somewhat cheap, I'm guessing it has to be under $200. I was playing around with those "sport/racing" type chairs, but I don't know how comfortable they actually are, and if they can be had in that price range.

I don't want some Pep Boys special looking one like this:

But I also can't get something like this either due to price.

Or if there's a "normal" chair that someone recommends, that's fine too.

Sounds fancy, but I need something I can buy from either Staples (we have a corporate account with them) or Amazon.

I clicked on "Where to Buy" and a store came up called Designs Within Reach. I've been there, and they have $10K chairs and $15K dressers. Yeah no.

You can't buy an office chair based on someone's recommendation. Like a car, you have to test drive it. Go to Staples/Office Depot and sit in literally all the chairs.

The last time I bought an office chair, I was there for probably 45 min going from chair to chair.

We had to buy our own chairs at work recently. I went with a $80 IKEA one and itís worked out great so far. However, Iím typically sitting in my chair for a max of 30-45 min a day at most and half of that is eating lunch..

Old office had Aeron chair. Tell your office to splurge on it because it's worth the money.

At home, we had a $200ish budget - I recommend you stretch the budget

We ended up with this one, though it's probably more suited for a home office. Value/quality is good, seeing as how similar styles (though probably more premium materials) chairs from C&B or PB cost like $1K+:
Amazon Amazon

We also had this one, but it felt "hot" to sit in sometimes, didn't recline very far, and the arms wouldn't fit under our desk since it has a pencil drawer in the middle: https://www.staples.com/La-Z-Boy-Bra...caAklzEALw_wcB

+1 for Herman Miller. Used to work for a vendor of theirs so we had a few (I didn't rate one, sadface), they were the ****.

Bought a fabric Ikea task chair for myself years ago cause too poor for HM but can't stand that cheap pleathery "normal" crap. It's held up real well, was definitely worth the $.

That costco one looks nice too though.

Okay, let me put this in perspective with what I have currently.

This is my current chair. It is a Staples branded one for $75 - https://www.staples.com/Staples-Turc...product_934103

Honestly, it is fine. I do get up a random times during the day to walk to other offices. It is just cheap, wears out easy (as you can see) and the padding is pretty smashed now so it is getting uncomfortable.

For reference, here's a newer one. There are a lot of these hanging around the building and I can just take one if I want to. But I figure I have the opportunity to get another one, so why not.

These are in some of our conference rooms. Also Staples branded for $159 - https://www.staples.com/Staples-Bair...product_937975

Also okay, but I've only sat in these for maybe 1-2 hours at a time during meetings. A little better than the above, but still cheap materials and will wear out over time. Has some more adjustment ability on the arms and the stitching makes it appear better (but it isn't).

So yeah, that's what I'm currently working with. I don't need something AMAZING since the ones above are even okay.

We buy a few of these once a year and just throw them away. We work in a shop and get dirty and can be rough on stuff so no sense in having something luxurious. Been using them for a few years, comfortable enough. $80 and free shipping

$499 is way too much. Cut that price in half...then half again.

I've been looking for a new chair for a while and it seems like a pain. You can get the $100-200 Office Depot/Staples selection that falls apart after a while or you spend ~$500+ on one of these chairs from a "good brand" which might not even be comfortable if you aren't able to sit in it before buying. Every time i start looking i end up saying eh... **** it. I'll put up with my old chair a little longer.

I mean, there is nothing that will be ultra comfortable or last longer than a year in that price range. We have chairs in the 1-3k range at my office. Been using the same one for nearly 10 years.
