I feel grateful every day that I live in the preeminent military superpower.

I used to hate it. Things change.

I mean, I'm not ungrateful, but the way that article reads, ugh. It's like they're trying really hard to suck up to the military/trump.

Well, yes.

Despite the way they have shat on the VA, shat on the intelligence community and totally disregarded law enforcement.

As much as I like seeing and hearing jets, I think I would hate them if I had to deal with them constantly.

Good thing I've only dealt with American jets waking me up in foreign countries lol. Property value would drop too much if we had them constantly flying over LA.

”The next time you hear that unfamiliar rumble of a fighter overhead, or maybe the familiar sound of wings pushing air sideways at the speed of sound, be not worried but grateful. We are a nation of free men and women, protected by free men and women who regularly risk all for us, with the sort of resolve that should make us all proud. It did me, as I heard their afterburners fade into the night.”

First, the people who regularly “risk all” for us are electricians and fishers. Second we are not “free”, particularly when the money for those fighter jets and military is taken from the population via threat of force (ironic, we could free everyone but ourselves). The whole article is a joke.

Lived next to a runway in Africa for 7.5 months, I’ve had enough jets for one life time.

Invading Iraq didn't make me safer. It just put hundreds of thousands of people of my generation in danger, killed hundreds of thousands in the sovereign state we invaded and added massive amounts to our debt.

So nah, I don't feel anything when a fighter jet flies over.

The greatest purposes of the military for me as a citizen are giving folks a potential path out of poverty and providing structure for those who need it, I've seen the positive results of both of these in person.

I am shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that a foxnews opinion piece spewing hyperbolic patriotism is telling us to CLAP LOUDER for anything and everything military. Hmmm, I wonder what other groups within the last century made it feel, well... almost mandatory that one vigorously celebrate anything to do with one's military? You guys have read my sig, right? :thinking emoji:

Republicans are more likely to be less intelligent and scared. The military plays into both those things while giving them something to cheer for. They also tie Christianity into it of course, even though it is the antithesis of Christianity.

I just like jets period so its pretty cool. Although it got more interested reading the article about them putting the F35 computer system in the F16. F16 is a crazy capable plane considering its cost and original stated purpose.

A10s regularly fly over my property because their training/shooting area not too far to the east. Last week they were maybe 1000ft? My wife sent me video at work. Occasionally we can hear the BRRRRT.

Yeah probably should be grateful if it’s because of actual defense.

I don’t know if grateful is the correct word, but surely not pissed about the noise

Training noise, ok you have an arguement as that can be done anywhere
