Default Networking Gurus Chime In: Help with Linksys and AIM

Okay...

I'm trying to get aim IM connect to work while using a linksys wireless router. I'm at the settings menu but I'm not sure which settings to change. Any help?

Que? Do you mean AIM Direct Connect? So you can send pics in a IM conversation?

Well a lot of newer routers have UPnP that can kind of auto-port forward so it does depend on your router. My Linksys WRT54GS does it automatically. But, the person you are connecting to should have the port open as well or else you cannot connect to them. So it depends on both ends is what I am saying.

A simple google search produced this however:

To do AIM direct connection, add a second port triggering rule. Make the trigger ports 5190-5190, and the open ports 4443-4443.

Direct Connect uses port 4443. If you have a firewall, opening this port may help. If you have a router, forwarding this port may help.
