but you have to factor in maybe majority of the lower IQ people are so dumb they didnt even vote, so that throws the numbers off if only the higher percentage in the lower states where the ones to vote

From the bottom of that site.

The IQ numbers were originally attributed to the book "IQ and the Wealth of Nations", though they do not appear in the current edition. The tests and data were administered via the Raven's APT, and the The Test Agency, one of the UK's leading publishers and distributors of psychometric tests. This data has been published in the Economist and the St. Petersburg Times, though this does not mean it should be taken as fact. Though the data does correlate somewhat to IQ of students per state based on SAT/ACT data, though this would be biased for those that had completed a high school education. Someone has also taken 2000 census data on percentage of state residents that have earned a college degree and used that to compare the voting in the 2000 election, it's funny, but that seems to correlate as well.

come on people of course this isn't pure unbiased data. no true source, and only selective data was shown.

but its funny nonetheless...

VA isn't too far down, Cali is doing ok...

Also, The election itself was not a complete and acurate representation of the people. The only way that could happen is if everone voted. We all know that will never happen.

yea..smartest people on the east coast.

since when does being intelligent have to do with common sense in voting for president? Most northeastern people are ignorant leftwing democrats driving SUVs with their little headset cellphone adapters.

i live in jersey btw

i wouldn't call east coast people all left wing bastards, but i think there is a more diverse mix of republicans and dems. We have large populations of republicans and democrats. we have both extremes, but i truly think they all lean center if you were to poll everyone out here...

repubs and dems are reasonable logical thinkers out here

The OPs stats are worthless in my opinion.. if every state was won 51% to 49%, then the arguement supports that half the people in the intelligent state ie. new york are repub and smart and half are democrats and smart, and the stupid states, ie. Mississippi are half and half also. No state won 100% so the numbers are pretty weak.

Wouldn't those with the higher IQ's, as a general rule (I know there are exceptions), hold the highest paying jobs in the nation? And if those people held the highest paying jobs, shouldn't they be voting for bush?

Historically, the democratic party represents the middle to lower class in the nation, and exactly how the **** did they get put in that spot? Maybe they didn't make good life choices, and maybe they didn't apply themselves, and maybe they were just ******* stupid.

Seems like bass ackwards logic that the middle to lower class would be of higher IQ than those of middle to higher class, the group traditionally represented by the republicans.

Just some food for thought.

if you guys really want to bring iq into this, then you should take into account iq averages among other demographics. The best example i could think of might be offensive to some but is a fact.
White people on average have higher IQ scores than african americans (and probably most other minorities). African americans voted for kerry at a 80+% rate.
How does this affect this scale? Also take into account minorities group together in big cities which vote overwhemingly for democrats.
