there is such a crappy city yet its such rustle bustle on the highway. who the hell would want to live here.

8 minute mornings and afternoons for me since moving from southern california... sure the chicks are fat, and the BBQ is tasty... but at least I don't feel like committing harakiri on a daily basis

there was a huge accident right at the end of my street on sunday so I went into town so that I could drive back and not hit the traffic.

It wasn't pleasant

XM helped. Thank God I had a full pack of smokes for each - that helped more.

If I remember right, the first incident was when some douchesock lost a keg of nails off the back of his truck. Something like 90 cars with one or more flat tires on the major east-west corridor. All alternate routes jammed.

Weather one was when Raleigh made the news - massive 12-hour gridlock following an inch or two of snow. Well, **** those people who laughed at us, because that was the slickest, nastiest **** I've ever driven on. Not to mention EVERYONE tried to go home at the same time. Took Mrs. Splat five hours to get home. I only "won" because I was closer to the interstate than her. Friend of mine had to wait until midnight to leave work, and it STILL took him an hour to drive 15 miles.

[edit] Forgot another weather one. On the way home from ITR Expo 6. Hit Raleigh about rush hour, got over to my side of town easily. However, there had been massive storms overnight and that morning, and all but one of the north-south feeders below I-40 had flooded. Took me about an hour and a half to get the last eight miles home. After driving from Nebraska.
