I've heard nothing but good reviews, but no one can tell me what kind of music it is. So...what kind of music is it?

ehh, it's different. i guess i would group it under indie rock, for lack of a better title. im sure you you find a site online where you can listen to it.

I haven't heard the new album, but I like everything else I've heard. I can't really describe their style either, but it's pretty cool stuff.

My favorite band, hands down.
Their new album is OK. I have liked some of the past albums moreso with my favorite being Lonesome Crowded West.

If you want to see a song from their new album, check out http://www.sonymusic.com/artis...0.asx

I wonder if it's on iTunes yet? I'm sure as hell ot paying UK price for the CD, no matter how good it is!
Good stuff. Just upset that Jeremiah Greene left the band. He was an amazing drummer...

It's on Musicmatch

You can at least listen to 23 tracks of theirs, not sure if you can buy or not. I spent the morning with Modest Mouse in the background. It's certainly better than the average crap out there now. Intelligent lyrics, nice range of musical influences and styles.

But some of it made me think too much of other bands. Probably a bad producer.

Speaking of bad producers - any Ben Kweller fans here?

That's seriously the strangest comparison I've ever heard?!?!?!

Both great bands, but weird...

$.01 per meg of music. I'll take them over iTunes anyday. Not trying to ***** allofmp3's site or anything but it gets the job done for me.

I like their new CD a lot, but I like their older CD's better because their music was a little "harder" back then.

I remember when they used to play here back in the day...
everyone loved them but i didn't really have the
chance to see or hear it until they were big...

I probably missed out on something good...

i've listened to modest mouse for quite some time now. i was a little worried about them when their music was used for a car commerical, but i think they've entered the "mainstream" gracefully without losing the sound i've come love.

I make my alarm wake me up to "The Ocean Breathes Salty" every morning. They are an awesome band with a very genuine/unique sound that I really admire and enjoy. I too would classify their sound as Indie Rock because there is not any other genre that comes to mind.

Modest Mouse is a little too hard for me...although it's better than 99% of the **** everyone else listens to.

Have you tried Minus the Bear? It is some goooOOOOD stuff. I can listen to Highly Refined Pirates all day long.

Does anyone else hate it when people want to know what "category" music is in? Why can't they just listen to it?!!
