Default The (Millenial) Golden Era is exploding

We have Sirius keying in on the 80s and 90s Honda's as Golden Era Hondas (GEH). Prices of EM1, ITR, NSX etc have been climbing...

We have Jonah Hill making a mid 90s skateboard flick.

Captain Marvel movie opens with a shot of Blockbuster Video.....

Nike makes millions reproducing "retro" shoes ( from the late 80s and 90s)

We have a Video game collecting thread, where everyone is in love with late 80s and 90s stuff.

ALL the marvel movies being made, are based on plots written in the late 80s-90s.

If I could invest in a 80-90s Nostalgia stock index, Id be rich in a few years....Discuss.

Late Gen X and early Gen Y kids have money now. Memories + loot = spending money on lost childhood.

Fgts can’t come up with anything new so they’re taking my childhood and misappropriating it for themselves

I mean nostalgia sells this isn't news

The 80's/90's/early 2000's was a defining generation/timeframe

We were on the cusp of the tech boom. Our generation was the first to grow up with the early internet, cell phones, game consoles, etc and yet we were also the last generation where kids played outside all day, everyone knew everyone, there was no fear of pedophiles/creepers and life was just easier.

Yeah nostalgia usually hits around mid 20s to mid 30s, plenty of studies on that.

We're the generation that grew up through the transition period along side technology, etc....so we have a very unique perspective in a sense that we saw what the world was before, and after the Tech boom. It has definitely changed the social/economic landscape forever.
I think a ton of us in this segment miss the "simpler" times.

Pretty much.

There's even a market for 90s candy, snacks and sodas. People are buying memories of when life was easier.

I got some free nostalgia for ya. Stop being cell phone zombies putting it down for a day or weekend is amazing. On vacation I leave it in the room.

Check out “Everything Sucks” on Netflix if you’re in the mood for some 90’s nostalgia. It only lasted one season and each episode is ~20 mins so it’s a quick watch.

^this.

I have half siblings born in 1994 and 1997 (I was born in 82), nearly completely different childhoods although growing up in the same house.

Honestly, I feel bad for them and how much technology took away from experiences and added extra layers of **** (social media pressures) that I didn't have to deal with... I remember my little sister's wish for her 15th birthday was 50 likes on her IG post, that **** was saddening.

****, even skateboarding sucks now... I'm still very involved with it 21 years later at 35 and it's all about instagram, go anywhere and phones are out.. phones are out 100% of the time and half of everybody is staring at the screen. Gone are the days of having your buddies over and watching the 411 that just came in the mail until you wore the tape out, then going out skating all damn day and making a shitty video with a miniDV camera. So I'm interested in watching this just to remember those easier times. I feel bad for kids that have came up in this era, constant and unnecessary pressure brought on by that ****.

I mean...this has been happening for a long time. IMO the current "craze level" means it's about to trend out.

What's the next trend/fashion to turn 20 years old? Awful early 2000s stuff.

JNCO already came back and went again. They just closed their doors this year.

The 80s redux started when I was in college (99-2003). I predicted then to all my friends that we'd see a 90s redux and they were all like "high-tops and day-glo tank tops? No way" yet here we are.

Nope. Motorola Star-Tac lol.

"The Matrix" turns 20 years old next year so that's usually the key age. The next decade should be filled with looser pants, and haven't you guys already noticed that shoe fashion has gone mega-chunky in the last year?

If this is your era then shoot me a PM (this applies to anybody else)... I took my entire skate video library DVD's and VHS's and ripped them all to the highest quality and are in my google drive.
