Wife use to be both, I think she has gotten away from it though. Good housewife now but almost coasting with the rest and seems to be content which is irritating. I like the fact food is made, laundry is done, house is somewhat clean, takes care of the kids. At some point though momentum or drive seems to have been lost. She started a small business, farmers market stand, catering yet when has plenty of time I have to really push for the books to be completed, all of which is simple just time consuming.

You just threw up 2 different types of people and said "choose which one is your wife".

Mine is career driven, kicks *** at her job, and is a great mom at home.

Both, but at different points in life. My wife has been #1 for the past 10 years, raising our daughters until they entered grade school. Now she's beginning the transition to #2 since she has more time on her hands. The transition to #2 means I'll be helping more with the kids and around the house when I'm not working, but we have a really good balance going.

If my wife and I both wanted to be DINKs, number 2 all the way. But she wanted to be a house wife, and she's got a knack for it, so number 1. We both wanted kids, so number 1.

So your wife makes your meals, does your laundry, cleans your house, takes care of your kids, and runs her own small business, but you're disappointed she isn't more successful? What exactly is it that you do? Eating prepared meals and posting on HT taking up all of your time?

OP, you need to figure out what you want out of life, nobody can answer this for you. I'd suggest starting from step 1 and try to meet a woman whose company you enjoy, and who you share similar values/interests/wants with, and then go from there.

Even if you pick one of these stereotypes then how do you go about finding this person that meets your end game? That's not really how love and marriage is supposed to work.

I want a wife, not a martyr. Wife cleans the house 3-4 times daily. I go hiking/do what I want with my time. Works out.

Its not as if all of this goes on everyday or simultaneously. Business stuff is primarily summer, and on call we shall say. Less than once per month in the off season. I have noticed things tapered off in recent years. I am also fairly busy with work and house projects. It is rare that a day off is spent on here. Our schedules also alternate.

People sometimes ask me marriage questions. My answer is always with another question.

If there is a dirty sock on the living room floor....who is going to pick it up? How they answer that questions, and their follow up response and questions, speaks volume.

Bumping this up after a year as I've been busy
.

My old ride, the 13 Camry Se was rear ended and had structural damage. So I got a good deal on the trade as the dealer didn't see the buckled quarter panels as it was a white car.

But decided to treat myself and upgrade to this

He's forcing peeps to choose what they want their wife to be. I've seen both sides of the coin and its always not pretty.

What does this have to do with a thread on marriage?

I think the premise is flawed.

Sadly, a gussied up twin turbo Nissan will last longer than a lot of marriages.

You're doing polyamory wrong.

You need two wives, not have 5 husbands.
