Default For the married GDDers

After being married, which trait did you find to be more important?
1) Housewife and motherly, family oriented but not success driven
2) Successful, ambitious and career driven, but no time for the husband and kids

Not understanding? You know women can be all of the above right?
You just threw up 2 different types of people and said "choose which one is your wife".

Mine is career driven, kicks *** at her job, and is a great mom at home.

Um both, I guess. My wife is home at least 4 days a week, but is also an RN and getting her masters. We are kind of in between.

If I had to choose, I guess I would go with option 1. If my situation was like option 2 all the time, I'd be out. But yeah, I wouldn't prefer either option all the time.

There are too many varying factors, my friends and I narrowed it down to what seemed to be easiest to generalize. If you have one that is both, than we envy you greatly. But as of right now, my friends and I are having trouble deciding on what we are looking for in a wife.

Successful. My wife is a business owner and we have no interest in having kids.

I think it is very difficult for a woman to be both. If you do both, I think you're half assing both of them.

My personal opinion.

Spend early years of your children's lives with her as the "motherly" type. I think this is the most important time for development. Later, after all kids are in school then switch to more career focused.

This is the route we are taking, still have a few years until our youngest is in school. We shall see..

However, I LOVE the fact that I come home to a clean house, errands completed and a home cooked meal waiting for me. I will probably have the toughest time when she goes back to work. That extra income will be nice though..

Well if you want to have kids and raise them to be great people, then option 1 every single time.

If kids aren't that important to you and you can do without, then option 2.

We agreed for her to be a stay at home mother until our children started school and then she'd focus more on her career. It was definitely financial strain at the time, but well worth it IMO.

This would be a question I have an answer for before I was married, and after I was married.

After XX years, none of that really matters. There are other BS in life, that makes it too short to select one. Or note how one fall short of expectations, or exceeded expectations. Life is hard enough already. No need to pick on things that "don't matter" in the big picture.

For the time I've known my wife, X2, and we would have reached the "final chapter (period) of our life together. So I'm choosing none or don't matter.

I could be sterile and not lose a minute of sleep. Wife wants kids even less than I do.

TBH, my wife is more successful, we have no kids, but the other day when I had a traumatic event seeing a dude die she was ready to fly home from her conference and just lay in bed for days snuggling and talking.

I declined.
