Default Mardi Gras

Cleaning out the freezer when I find a handful of these. How appropriate since we're leaving tomorrow to go down to Mardi Gras.

It's gonna be a fun afternoon.

You know, if we were planning to do it again this year, I would have really considered trying to beer with you.

We did it last year, and both my wife and I felt that it just wasn't for us. It was fun that we went with our neighbors, who are NOLA natives, and they've missed like 1 - ever. Maybe. And the best part, we're still all friends!

We were at St. Charles near Clio, so it was a great view of the better parades.

Wait... you mean Alabama Mardi Gras?

So, to answer your question - "Yes"!

Moonpies? Sounds like I'd rather Mardi Gras in Mobile.

I have never celebrated mardi gras in my life. Honestly, a true shame and I would enjoy being hammered walking around a strange city and getting a facesit from a stranger.

I'm not surprised. One of these weekends, I'll try the Galveston version.

There's no debate. It started in Mobile. New Orleans wasn't even a city when Mobile started Mardi Gras.

I was on Bourbon St for the millennium turnover.

That was enough New Orleans for my lifetime. :-)

I am old but this remains the time I've seen some of the strangest things I've ever seen in my life! LOL....

It's up to him what card he means to pull, but 1% probably refers to the allegorical 1% of motorcycle groups who are based on outlawed income. Drugs, armed robbery, maybe just in the marijuana business, odd DL trade activities, and so on.

The idea of 1% started when there was a riot between motorcycle groups at the end of the 40's or beginning of the 50's, and someone said to the media that 99% of gangs were just legal clubs.

As the decades went by, there's a lot of "outlaw" or 1% groups who allege that they are 1%, but really not so much. They just don't want to be a part of the mainstream, for whatever reason.

That's just one dumb old man's opinion, and anybody who knows more about the 1% groups can help me with the definition.

I've only known a few of these guys, so I can't claim to know it all or to be aware of what all the 1% groups are about.

I think we tend to forget that Mobile had French origins. It wasn't English until the Treaty of Paris.

The promise of religious tolerance brought a large Jewish immigration in the 2nd half of the 1700's.
