What you need to do is keep visiting the store and asking if they have the TV you want in stock. Eventually they won't and you ask for the floor model with a warranty. I got my 55" a few years ago, was already on sale for $899 but I walked out the door, literally with the TV, for $500.

I've had a Vizio 32" basic LED 1080P tv for 6 years now, no problems.

We've been rocking a 43" 1080P Emerson that is 15 years old (it was my wife's TV before I met her) No problems and quality was good enough. Only reason I just bought a new Vizio 50" 4k was because I wanted to mount TV to the wall and the Emerson was legit 100lbs.

The problem with this approach is you are assuming the employees have set up the tv's in some fashion. Most likely, they just turned them on to max brightness. So it's a poor comparison because the settings have not been even attempted to be adjusted. I'm not willing to be the goober who goes in there and tries to calibrate the 3-5 displays I may be comparing. So I stick to reviews, AVS, and price points.

I was going to get into all of this but decided against it because most consumers just don't care. They oogle over the shitty dynmaic mode the TV is in, buy it, bring it home and slap that **** back into horrible dynamic mode and enjoy it....even if it really does look like crap

Yea, I get deep into specs even though I'm more of a casual viewer.

I enjoy researching as well. Personally I wouldn't window shop TV's because of the things you mentioned.

Did you get the actual disk? From what I understand stream 4k isn't up scaled to "true" 4k, but still looks good.
I hear planet earth is real good on Netflix 4k. Pretty sure altered carbon is 4k, but doesn't seem to be upscale to true 4k either.

itís true 4k as far as resolution, but itís still compressed for streaming.

Itís not as good as a 4k blu-ray, but itís still pretty damn good.

There is no 1080p content that looks like this ****, thatís for sure

first post in thread.

$699 refurbished vizio, but when it came out in 2017 it was $2k and the reviews were saying it’s professional level quality on a budget.

I simply cannot imagine picture quality being much better than this.

It looks good but it looks washed out to me. Maybe because its underwater footage and the environment is moving. Possibly because it's shot with a potato too. For the price though it looks good. Better than my 1080p Panasonic plasma? No

Word. Sony is hands down the best excluding LG OLED of course. Although not 4K My KDLW900A was king of the hill back in 2014 and is still going strong. True 240hz refresh rate and triluminious display kicks ***.

Vizio P series does have a solid picture plus you get full array local dimming...not too fond of the video processing though but overall a very solid choice.

I think I reviewed my plasma TVs mainly through cnet reviews. I'm with can97 it's tough to argue against a plasma. Good luck finding one now. Older tech but they still hold their own. Especially when I purchased mine in 2 consecutive years.
i couldn't buy a LED at the time. Even the higher refresh rates they had ghosting badly with fast movement. Glad I didn't buy that garbage because my plasmas have been outstanding.
I have a Samsung and a panasonic.
