Default Libyan War Photos (My Collection in search of the Toyota Hilux)

I've been fascinated with the Libyan conflict and have been saving pictures. Here is a collection of them.

A few additional points.

The AP and other news outlets were able to co-exist with the rebel forces more freely than Ghadafi's...so the pictures may seem bias in their direction. I don't support either side...since the alternative to Ghadafi's regime could be worse than his.

This thread is about the struggle of the Libyan people first. I'm fascinated with the average Rebel's ability to fight with limited resources in less than ideal conditions. Whether it be in sandals, no ear protection, no armor, outdated weapons, etc...these guys just fight until they die.

Now, how does this relate to Toyota pickup trucks? Well, I think the same folks who fight in sandals without eye and ear protection appreciate and depend on the best made vehicles in the world to transport their weapons around really rugged conditions. This is why they choose Toyota Trucks over GM or Ford trucks...which goes without saying.

I've owned 5 Toyota Pickup's in my life, from an 84 Straight Axled 4x4 to an 2002 Toyota Tundra. Recently someone looking to buy my 96 Toyota 4x4 was going to export it to Africa...which prompted me to post over a 100 pictures from this conflict.

On to the pictures...from guy's fighting in sandals...to home made rocket launchers in the back of a hilux...its quite an assortment of interesting pictures!

The point of war is to resolve a struggle between groups with different ideologies, often over limited resources.

I don't really have a position on which side is right in Libya...since its hard to know who will end up in control after the dust settles over there. I certainly sympathize with those fighting to get rid of a dictator like Ghadafi and I'm glad he's gone...but I don't know if his predecessor will be any better.

It will most likely be worse.

For all of his faults, Ghadafi wasn't a religious zealot.

Just like the rest of the media coverage, lots of pictures of them shooting guns in the air, posing for facebook profile pictures, and just generally ****ing around... absolutely no pictures of them figthing or firing AT anyone.

Do a little research on the presence and relevance of toyota trucks in Africa.

There is even a war named after the truck.
