Default Integra with 494,000 KM'S

I ran into a older guy with a 92 RS at the gas station today. I just told him he had a nice car and then we started talking about our cars. His had about 494,000km's on the original engine, he was only on his 2nd clutch, same tranny. He has owned it since he bought it back in 92 and he changes the oil about every 6000km. I couldn't belive I was hearing this. He was also saying he was thinking of trading it in but he didn't think he ever could trade the car in. He just said he was a amazing car and he loved it.

So I was just wondering of anyone else running into integra's like this?? I knew the engines could normally do 300,000+ but 494,xxx ? This car was a good example of a excellent engine. It made me feel like I could drive my 92 LS with 166,000km on it forever.

1 mile = 1.609344Km

so

494,000/1.609344=306,957 miles

There is a 92 Accord at the local Honda dealership with 792,XXXkm on it which is like 475,XXXmiles on it. Its on its 2nd clutch aswell and everything else is pretty much mint on it. I dont know the whole details and only talked about it with the guy there for a little while, but he said he has had to use it for a few runs for the dealership and it runs like new.

Its not suprising. Just take care of your car, dont abuse it and it will last forever.

When I worked at an Acura dealership we took in an Integra with 908,000 Kms. It is now owned by a friend of one of the mechanics there. Rumour has it that it has rolled over. Honda FTW.

Older cars are built like tanks compared to the new ones

I've seen a couple of de-commissioned taxi Crown Victoria's with around 600k on the clock, most for an American car that I've seen.

I was happy I was able to get 216k on the original clutch in a 96 Probe GT. The disk was still fine too, the throwout bearing went bad.

My friend has an old civic station wagon from 1987 that his parents bought new. It has 330k on it with nothing major ever done and it still runs great.
