Default ideas with resolving usps "delivery" issue?

Shipped a package from illinois to brooklyn ny. I've been shipping with usps for ages with no issues. The buyer contacted me and stated their tracking shows delivered (i confirmed this) and they say its not there. I've used this buyer a few times before, and its a business, so i doubt its a scam. I confirmed i shipped to the correct address, and sure enough my records show it shipped to his business address, which paypal and ebay agree with. I am currently on hold with usps to try to sort this out, but has anyone ever had this happen? Is it a mis- scanned package and it will be delivered tomorrow?

I have had it happen where it says delivered but shows up the next day. can't remember if it was USPS or not.

My mailperson is also very good at delivering to the wrong house, so it's possible a neighbor actually brought it by the next day.

I've had the same thing happen when ordering from Amazon. USPS said it was delivered to my house but it definitely was not. The package showed up the next day or maybe 2 later. The tracking with USPS is far inferior to UPS/FedEx.

Thats good to hear. The buyer flipped off the chain about it, in my experience tracking numbers can lie but I've never had one say delivered that wasn't. A couple times it did say it was out for delivery like 3 days in a row without ever showing though

the package could also have been stolen.

did you require a signature?

if you have proof you shipped the item to the correct address, then its out of your hands. I've had this happen when I sold something. I got to keep the funds, but I did send the guy the insurance refund I got from UPS. It only covered about half the cost of the item though.

Yea, they just looked at the "package delivered" info and it being the correct address. I totally get it seeing how they have nothing else to go off, the seller was a total douche about it. In all fairness from his point of view probably sounded like I was a scammer

just had this happen with the running boards I bought. UPS shows it being delivered to my neighboring business. Signed for by "Chris." Checked with the neighbors and no one has a Chris. :/

Called UPS to see if the driver who delivered it can go back to wherever he dropped it off to get it back. We'll see what happens...

No signature confirmation. But like i said before, this buyer has used me a few times before and it's a business address. Doubtful its near a residential area, but I suppose that doesn't necessarily rule out theft either. But if it were stolen from his residence do i still get to keep the money? Sounds like i've done my job correctly here.

yes - you do.

tell him to file a police report if he wants.

I see this was an ebay transaction. He can file a claim with ebay and they will do an investigation. They might have him file a police report for a missing package. he'll get nothing. ebay will protect you.

In the future, charge more for signature confirmation and insurance.

Used google maps to see the street view. Its a narrow street with what appears to be multiple shipping/distribution type businesses all in a row sharing the same block long brick face "storefront". theres pallets and forklifts outside a few of these shipping centers. Definitely not a residential area

Have had terrible luck with USPS in the past. I avoid them at all costs now.

Once I had shipped some parts sold to someone just a few hours away from me in Orlando. There was no tracking on the item as it wasn't expensive, but it never arrived. USPS couldn't do anything since there was no tracking. I just refunded the buyer and forgot about it.

About 3 months later, I received a message from him that the parts had arrived

I get delivered at front desk reception area, We don't have that. But obviously I don't have the package

Month later i'll get it.
I have no idea what happens in that time.

At times a package will be 6 months late. Seller will file insurance claim, ship a replacement to me. And I'll end up with two.

Sometimes I'll get a package at 6-8 pm

buyer. All I could do was filing a police report, only good that does is collecting statistics. Who knows perhaps the incompetent mailman dropped it off somewhere else.

**** USPS. Bought a fuelpak tuner off amazon shortly after moving here, and it sat at the usps office for several days because of "delivery issues." I called them and they said the mailman didnt deliver it because...the house was vacant. ******* *******. The sellers had two cars and parked one in the driveway, and they didnt move out until closing, and I often leave the garage open during the day, so my car is usually visible from the street. There's literally no excuse, it was small enough to fit in my mailbox and the retards never stopped delivering my mail. I will never use USPS again if possible.
