Default How do I avoid having my car stolen/broken into

Other than moving away from PG county...MD folk know what I'm talking about
My car's been broken into twice in 5days, my grandmothers car was stripped, 3 other people on my block have had theirs snatched and just this morning did I awake to discover someone's car parked in front of my house stripped, called the popo's to find out the car in front was in fact stolen.

this chit is getting old, I've got a kill switch, foot club & alarm, none of which seems to help
I know if they want it they'll take it but what else could I possibly add to stop them other than add a personal sniper to sit atop my roof

sorry man, I live in PG and I know it sucks big time. Best thing we did was get an alarm for it. Yeah, it isn't much to OTHER people but you know its YOUR car they are taking when it goes off so you can come out with a bat/hoe/shotgun of choice and defend whats rightfully yours.

What city do you live in BTW? I used to live in Landover and that place is

Just do the obvious - never leave anything in the car, always take off the faceplate (or better yet revert to stock radio), no stickers on the car. Or blend in better by getting a $250 ghettocruiser with bling-bling hubcaps.

My buddy always left doors unlocked in his softtop Wrangler, and some jackass still sliced one of the windows to get in. Another one keeps putting new radios every month...

In my 4 years of going to school in PG I have seen many cars broken into. However, it seems like most people haven't excercised proper caution. If nothing visually sets your car apart from others, nobody's gonna mess with it.

But yeah, save up your money and move away from PG.

yeah, I learned my lesson with the first break in, they broke my window and took my cd player, it had a removable face plate but I was dumb and didn't think of taking it off, the 2nd go was this morning, came out side, someone elses car was stripped in front of my house with mine parked on the other side, my door half way open and the plastic bag (can't afford a $175 royal glass window yet) ripped off. nothing in it for them to take though unless they wanted a used water bottle

when my grandmothers handicap accord was stolen they found and took finger prints, but the investigator said it takes 6months to a year before they hear word back about the finger prints
what if I doused the car in baby powder

I live in hyattsville/Adelphi

btw I heard about something called I think it was the black widow or something, it emits a high pitch sound if the door is opened, I want something that will kill all living things withing a 10 ft radius if its broken into

pull your ecu every night. hide a batery kill switch, put the afcs and other electronics on quick disconnects and pull them out every night. external coil? pull the coil wire.

Get a hood lock and hook up airhorns to your alarm. Also you might want to start a neighborhood watch. Good luck.

I've seen an immobilizer where the car would not start until you waved a magnet over a certain section of your dash (there was another magnetic thing in the dash) and when you did this it would allow the car to be started. I don't think i have the link anymore though.

Its just a keycard activated kill switch. I've got all the stops of them taking the vehicle from the property short of removing my wheels, I'm going to try and setup a camera in one of the windows since the detectives aren't cooperating by returning my phone calls
I am interested in the ear drum killer I heard about a few months ago, has anyone heard of something similiar?
I'm actually getting that installed on my gramps car although I'm sure 2days after she'll have lost the card

is there something that will also activate my stereo at an extremely high volume when the door is opened?

actually it shouldn't be hard to wire a horn or something for when your door is opened...just wire it into the wire for your interior lights (the ones that come on when the door is opened)

Thats a pretty good idea, I'm gonna look into it
But if I did just wire it up to the light wouldn't it start each time the door was opened and if there was a switch, how would I activate it.

If I were able to own a nice car & have the money, I'll definitely build a custom garage like into the basement with steel doors...aside from all the security option for the vehicle I got mine broken into once...too much hassle.

I used to live in P.G. and it does suck. The cops won't do anything about it so get a garage and wait with a shotgun.

what about removable steering wheels? Who makes good ones? I've been wondering this lately too. I'm in a decent area, but if someone stole my car, I would cry like a little girl.
