Do they get super drunk? Being sober around drunk people can be very annoying.

Yea true.... I guess if you're slurring your words, and cant pass a sobriety test, then the Nu-breath is irrelevant.

I wouldn't say incredibly drunk but enough to be annoying. I shouldn't talk however since I used to be one of those super annoying drunks myself.

The gum might mask the scent but the ETOH is still in your breath. That's why you still won't pass. Also the Nystagmus in your eyes that an officer is trained to see which is what usually leads to a sobriety test.

You do have a right to refuse the test.

I didn't know you had a right to refuse the test.....

Not saying I regularly drive drunk, but when I was younger I actually passed a sobriety test. He couldn't give me a DUI but slapped me with 5 BS tickets...

My buddy is a cop, and as a joke he made me do one when I was at his house pretty drunk. Walking in the straight line was easy until he asked me to put my hands by at my side. ... Your natural reaction when drunk is to put your hands out to balance yourself.

Someone also said that forcing yourself to throw up before they breathalyzer makes you not eligible to be tested?

I was always the designated driver. Funny thing is, my buds drank beer and I drank Scotch. I'd take 2 half pints of J&B to a party (1 will fit in back pocket) and still be the one driving.
This was before Uber. Oh, and phones had to be connected to a wall.

Yea I can also be that guy. For the most part I know my limits now. Cheers to your sobriety man.

You can absolutely refuse all roadside tests. They can also detain you and request a warrant for a blood test or similar.

2 1/2 pints of Scotch? That's not a tiny amount...

Yep, I know somebody who did that.

Refused the test, they detained him, took like 8 hours to get the warrant, BAC went bye bye, lost his license for 6 months while dealing with court due to him refusing the tests, beat the DUI, they gave him back his license and he still hasn’t learned his lesson.

Yeah, I had a drinking issue (past tense) but even then I drove better than them sober.

I don't even drive much anymore. Ive been using taxi/uber/lyft for almost 10 years. Biggest fear is getting tagged for just 1 drink during dinner and getting a dui.

This happened to my wife's friend's husband. Refused to blow. Lost his license for 1 year and had to do 30 hours of community service. He put off the community service for the entire year and tried to do it the last weekend that he was allowed. He couldn't find anywhere to volunteer within a few hours drive so he ended up having to go to jail. Lazy fat bastard.

That's the start of a much worse situation. Alcohol can be the worst best friend you could have.

most states, its an automatic revocation of your license if you refuse a roadside test. (6months-1year normally)
this can be overturned with a lawyer - especially if you aren't charged, but it will be expensive either way....
