I was at work stocking the shelves, and I felt it. It shook the whole building. I thought things were gonna topple over and fall on me. It woke me up though!

Why is it that earthquakes always seem to hit during the early hours?

That's a blessing man. I'm sure it probably has something to do with gravity and the moon, although I have never done any scientific research on it...but it's a blessing man. Could you imagine large earthquakes hitting during daytime business hours? It would be much worse. As much as I dislike getting awakened by ******* shaking...I prefer that, than to being out somewhere in public when it happens.

As for me, my buddy and I were at work, and we didn't feel a damn thing, but our dispatch center felt it, and they had to check on all of the units...we were the only one who didn't feel crap.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. If it hits at noon, the potential for injuries probably skyrockets. I've been through quite a few earthquakes, maybe one or two during the day, but the rest were always early am hours, pretty weird.

The only time I remember sizeable quakes during daylight hours, was after the Northridge quake in 94...all that day, we were knocking out high-5'ers left and right...some really good ones. Other than that, I cannot even remember any hitting during the day.

Our place in Fawnskin (across the lake from Big Bear Lake) had some items on the floor, other than that, no damage, wood frame houses=

Well.. the big one back in 89 hit at 5pm when everyone was getting off work. Alot of people died. My friends father died. He was simply walking along a street when the side of a brick building fell on him. I felt bad for him and his family.. they waited all evening and no phone call or any word from their dad. I cant imagine how tense those hours must have been for them.

I hope, it doesn't lead to bigger ones, sinking California underwater.

5.2 is a good wake up quake. after the one in 94 there were 5+ aftershocks.
