I'm sure you went through the pros/cons but I don't think HOA is for me. Condos/Townhomes are usually cheaper alternatives compared to houses but I don't think I care for the HOA perks (maintenance, pools, etc). It seems like the rules are half renting/half owning a property.

In my area, you don't have a choice sadly.

The single family homes are right behind me. Condos are across the street. I'm in a townhome. HOA is still the same company. Just add $800K to the price if you want the single family which is only marginally larger in square footage. You get a small driveway though (that you aren't allowed to park in...you have to park in your garage).

Yeah $2k and it doesn’t include paint correction

Paint correction is what costs the premium. The ceramic coat barely costs over $100 to do an entire vehicle and took me maybe two hours to apply.

But the two days of cut and buff at a shop rate is what adds up.

Unless your buddy does it for you for free

Thats the only reason I haven’t done it yet. Don’t want to shell out for paint correction and I tried it myself and I’m seemingly incapable of it.

My mom owns a property where they put an HOA. It's not in the deed so we told them to go somewhere when thhey told us we owe 500.00 in fees. Then everyone else began doing the same and the HOA was disolved.

Its easier to fool someone than to convince them they were fooled.

@shamoo, buy a kiddie pool big enough to drive your car into.

Wash your car. Afterwards, let the water evaporate.

When people complain, explain to them you're just following the HOA rules by not letting the water runoff to the storm drain.

So I would just take my chances, especially since you don't wash it that often. Once you get fined, then you can reevaluate. As far as the law, OSHA doesn't let businesses run off into storm drains. I don't believe it is technically a law for residential, but it is discouraged.

I had code enforcement showed up once, we talked....he never bothered me again. When I wash cars its normally a 4 or 5 hour job since I wash at least 3 of our vehicles. A half day if I decide to wash 5. Do you have amy friends you can take the Porsche to wash? If not maybe have a mobile wash guy do it at your worksite?

Wait, is that a thing? Not a "kiddie pool" obviously, but some sort of thing where you can drive onto? I can shop vac up all the water after.

EDIT: Yesss.

I don't wash often at all. I never got a letter directly, so it means someone else did. I see people wash sort of frequently on weekends. I'll probably continue to do it, but will look into other options.

More of a pain since I have all my gear in my garage. I mean I can go to my parents' house and wash it there (less than 5 minutes away). Same HOA company, but I don't remember ever seeing a notice about it.

As 816d16 said, not all HOAs are bad. I don't mind mine and this isn't anything against them since it is more of an environmental issue. You're not supposed to wash your car with soap and wash it down a storm drain ANYWHERE, not just my neighborhood.
Again, Kali rules may be different but I 100% know that HOA's can force a sheriff sale in Ohio if fees do not get paid. Had a buddy that went through this with a rental property last year because property management screwed up.

HOA's are fine...if you follow all of their dumb @ss rules. But quickly you see that things like washing cars can get you fined.

There is environment friendly car wash soap, so that argument is nothing more than an excuse by the HOA. If they worry about car "runoff", then they should also worry about what happens when it rains and your car is parked outside.

Again, HOA's are the devil in most neighborhoods and I cannot believe that anyone puts up with them. You're already seeing that as a car enthusiast that they are not going to be on your side...and you're in an upper-class neighborhood. I get that an apartment/condo complex wants to keep people from having cars up on blocks or people dropping engines in their parking space, but you can't even wash a car.

lol so let's see you come up with your own product line huh? Larry is a cool dude and has tons of helpful info on his channel. Yeah his products are expensive and not for me, but it's up to you whether to buy it or not. And it's not like he just slaps his name on some product blended by other people. Larry is directly involved with the R&D of his products.

Bottom line, dirt or cloth fibers scratch paint when they're dragged across the surface. Any car wash shampoo and water serve as lubrication to help prevent those things from scratching the paint surface. It's what the AMMO Frothe product is designed to do, as well as ONR with the multi-towel method.

And no, you do not need a bunch of expensive microfiber towels. You can get a pack of 10 70/30 350gsm Eagle Edgeless towels for 20 bucks from the Rag Company or Obsessed Garage and be ready to go.

Or you can quit these shenanigans and just take your car in to get washed. You can afford it.
