Default Hep remove Honda crank bolt with no hex tool shape

I need to pull the crank pulley off. How do I stop it from moving. My crank puley does not have the hex shape for the honda tool.

just a bunch of holes, keeps rotating the motor. I took the flywheel cover off but don't see where or how to jam it and can't find any images on how to do this despite many people saying to do this

I did not post this in the tech section because I need a fast answer. I'm sure someone here knows how to

wrap chain wrench around pulley with old serp belt in between, then pin it against ground

Big pry bar or screwdriver wedged into teeth of flywheel and floor or frame of car.

Chain wrench around crank pulley, although gotta watch you dont marr the **** out of it. (Edit: beat me to it, put a belt in between)

Easiest way. I had a strap wrench and an old belt I cut to fit the circumference of the pulley. Worked like a charm.

I don't see how to wedge the flywheel. Mine is covered by the bell housing, even with the cover off I only can see the side of it,

I'm going to try the chain whip. Where can I buy one? I have an old belt and my car has no AC or PS so It wob't be a problem if it gets marred a little.

Is this it?

Might be called 'locking chain clamp' or 'locking chain pliers'. I think I bought mine at autozone. It's pretty garbage, but I did 4 timing belts with it.

There should be holes in your crank pulley no? Take a flat piece of rebar, drill two holes that match, insert bolts to bolt it up and make your own crank pulley tool.

Who needs an expensive compressor anymore?

This cordless impact removes a stubborn crank bolt in about 2 seconds.

Have wedged a big flathead screwdriver between the flywheel teeth and bellhousing.
I have never cracked anything.

You could also rig something up to hold between one of the inspection plate bolts and a bolt or hole in the flywheel.

This is a good idea, but what are you using to try and break it loose? I have yet to need a pulley tool when using a decent impact to remove a crank pulley bolt on any Honda that I have encountered.

Take spark plug out of #1 cylinder, pour in a cup of BBs, reinstall spark plug. Then when you use your impact on the crank pulley, the #1 piston will hit the fistful of BBs and stop the crank from turning. You could also use a cup of sand, nails, gold chains, etc.

I just put a extension in the hole and it stopped against the frame nicely
put wd40 on that bish like i do with grimace
used friends harnour freight earthquake impact. Puits nore torque than ricos mom on a lawn chair

Anyway, was sooo easy.
Just make sure the lectric impact is fully charged and you have as short as possible socket.

What's the tq. spec on d16a6 timing belt tensioner? 33 ft lbs?
crank bolt? 1124 ft lbs?
The bolts that tie the engine mount bracket to the head? I don't have a clue on this one.

Anyway, thanks everyone.

@Acmoc according to a recent study by Dazman torque wrenches are useless, to many variables. Besides I thought your arm was calibrated.

most crank pulleys don't have a hex cut out - and yet - here we are in 2018.
