I honestly didnt think the dragon was going to live; I figured it wouldve died to save Khaleesi's life.

Im now 0/2 in calling deaths while viewing.

Grey Worm, where you at?

I was expecting the dragon skin to be tougher than that. They're best to stick with the arial assaults.

^I thought so too. I have a feeling that as the dragons grows bigger or ages, it's skin/hide will grow stronger and be harder to penetrate with meager weapons.

I wondered how they were going to do that.

Dragons died in the Targaryen conquest, and remember that they never conquered Dorne at all and ended up coming to terms with the Martell clan.

There are references to dragons killing each other in the ancient wars, and since dragons can't be killed by fire...well...they obviously ripped each other apart for the sake of their human friendships.

There's a very touching story about having to euthanize a female great dragon who had fought valiantly but been gruesomely injured in the battle, to the point she could no longer fly, could not heal herself to the point she would ever be herself again, and was clearly in great pain.

Question, if somebody knows so much: I know that the Iron Throne was welded together by a dragon. Do we know if there is any Valyrian steel in the Iron Throne?

Since a dragon welded it, maybe they used the dragon to weld it together just because it was the only way to join Valyrian steel to the other swords.

If you do know whether there is Valyrian steel in the Throne, do you know if there is enough to make enough new swords to be of any use to anybody fighting the White Walkers?

There was a war hammer wielded by Robert Baratheon, made of Valyrian steel. Do we know where that ended up?

Stannis - Incredibly determined, desperate or completely out of his mind?

Determined and desperate.

I think the tactic will get him to Winterfell, but people are going to remember what he did, and they're going to remember when he needs them the most, I think.

At some point I think he is going to pay the price.

That's not a spoiler. That's just a guess. They've gone off the map and off canon.

At this point they're almost as bad as the Star Trek franchise with having left canon far behind.

I may have missed it, or am just not a super fan, but why the hell are the masked ******** killing their own people?

I can see rebelling against the queen or people of authority, but they clearly showed one of them just stabbing a chick in the audience.

I wonder that too. I can't imagine it being too big for any normal man to wield.

The harpies were the enemies of the dragons, thousands of years ago.

The harpies were the totem creatures and a part of the religion of the Ghiscari Empire, overthrown by the Valeryan civilization, but vestiges of Ghiscari culture continued to exist in the confederation around Slavers Bay and cities like Mereen and Ashtapor.

In the mythological past of Essos, the harpies were destroyed by the dragons when they became allies of the humans.

So...in Mereen it would be a problem raising a black flag with the three dragons on it.

The society called the Sons of the Harpy (assuming canon...which is assuming a lot, evidently) would be associated with the commanders of the Unsullied who were trained to defend the Ghiscari-oriented cities like Ashtapor and Mereen before Dany showed.

That's would be why they appear to be such good fighters sometimes...if they're not Unsullied themselves, they are associated with their command structure before the cities were conquered.

Images found poking around quickly.

From the Ghiscari-Valeryan War, dragons v. harpies.

And the dragon who agreed to help forge the magic steel.

Interesting. So are the masked men Harpies themselves or just their human followers?

Let's put the masks on and sit among the crowd and hope the guards won't spot us!

So either they're trying to hide their features or just plain stupid.

What's with the Unsullied? I was expecting them to fight like Spartans from 300, but damn, they're slaughtered like pigs. One thrust, then get slit from the side or behind. Ditch those long spears and grab some shorter weapons or something.

Rebels who refuse to leave behind the culture that Dany wants to destroy.

I assume the masks were hidden in their clothes until the right time.

It's a terror tactic, a way to make the bigger crowd of people scared of them.

Ditch those long spears and grab some shorter weapons or something.
Their phalanx works well in the desert, but their weapons aren't the right ones for maintaining order in a city.

I also think that the sons of the harpy also have motive to kill freed slaves and/or common folk because class war.

That scene with Shireen was hard for me to watch as a father. Brutal, in fact.

Probably for the best they didn't actually show her on fire. Would have been too much. I had a feeling he would go through with it though.

It was brutal. I was hoping she would make it back to the Wall and build a library with Sam, but I knew it wasnt going to happen.

Also, what is the morale of the soldiers like after seeing your king do that to his own little daughter? I dont see how Davos will ever serve Stannis the same way after this.

yeah the way they shot the faces of the soldiers they did a good job of communicating: "who the **** do we work for" but also "well hopefully this means the weather gets warmer doe"

I do wonder how Davos will react--but Davos is almost the last souvenir from Stannis' old self: A rigid man but with strong sense of principle. Davos is a symbol of that principle. Stannis' conscience, if you will. As Meli increases her hold, it makes sense that Davos will be marginalized by Stannis--or Davos will say "enough" and abandon Stannis.

Also, at what point will the iron bank stop "betting" on stannis and come to terms with the tyrells?

Basically stannis will have lost his family, the respect of his army and his cash flow. Only thing that he has going for him now is his fox magic
