Default HBO: Game of Thrones

There is a new HBO show called "Game of Thrones" and I am really enjoying show. Kings, queens, knights and renegades use schemes and swords to battle for the throne. Need I say more. One of the main character is Sean Bean. You might know him from major films like "Lord of the Rings". Looks like there is going to be mythical creatures in the story. Two episodes already came out and I want more already.
Game of Thrones is an American medieval fantasy television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. The series is based on author George R. R. Martin's best-selling A Song of Ice and Fire series of seven fantasy novels; HBO's overall series' title is derived from the first novel. The series debuted in the U. S. on Sunday evening, April 17, 2011 and was picked up for a second season on April 19th.

Dude, can you provide a little attribution for this? I'm quite sure you didn't write this synopsis?

Anyway, the show is very cool and I am looking forward to the episode I have DVR'd from yesterday. Will be interesting to see how closely they follow the books, because in the books a lot of the main characters die.

Worst review/synopsis ever.

Hope it's better than the "making of it" clip I caught the other night made it look.

watched both episodes already. I think its done nicely (at this point) with how they are weaving all the plotting of the various characters together.

couple comments I have right now.

1. the king's son is a piece of crap. hope someone knifes him before season 1 is over.

2. cant wait for the queen to get knocked down. she's got it coming for her haha.

3. the dwarf is awesome

4. dragon friggin eggs. I see something happening with the green one hopefully later on.

5. dude wanting the crown that gave his sister to the hoard king, I hope the sister successfully turns the tides on him.

that is all.

It is

Some of it's pretty hokey but it is amazingly well-produced. It looks like a movie through and through.

In the books--the prince actually takes the throne. And you can probably imagine that with the incestuous relationship b/w his mom and her brother, there are some questions about his legitimacy.

And as far as #5 that guy gets killed (again, in the books) by the Klingon-type dude he married his sister off to.

haven't seen the show, or read the books. only heard about a scene that was two to three body parts shy of a hardcore **** scene.

I'd guess that the books may be even more explicit, no?

I actually have not read the books. I just wiki'd it after watching the first episode, and found all this.

Who knows? I'm not about to read an entire series of books. I'm still working my way through The Dark Tower and then might tackle The Wheel of Time.

IMO, HBO is probably spicing things up quite a bit just so people watch it.

hopefully the show only loosely holds to the books kinda like what seems to be going on in true blood.

cant believe the stupid prince gets the throne though. he's an *** and a coward.

More so. My wife read the series, and I have a friend reading them in time with the HBO series. Both say more boobies, and more killing.

I didn't read the series, but it checks most of the standard how to make a courtly drama fantasy series. Incest, check. Plot to kill the king, check. Bastard son, check. Hero/husband must leave the village, check. Young girl not wanting to be a girl, check. Slimy prince, check.

It's almost like he tried to write in every possible character archetype so that if any of them failed he could fall back on another character.

The books are much more graphic than the episodes, to say the least.

Theyre about to be disappointed because the books and show will start to seperate soon from what ive heard. If this show can even come close to the greatness of the books then it will be full of win

I've been a fan of the books for over a decade now.

After the first episode I was not sure about the series. Episode two fixed that. The scene where Tyrion slapped around Joffry was straight out of the book and was the first time I actually saw Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister in a believable way.

I still can't believe they made a TV series out of this.

This. A couple of us are getting together over at a friends house to watch and we all wondered why these books, of all the possible fantasy books, got it's own HBO series.

way to spoil it for them...

at least you didn't say HOW he was killed, because that's pretty epic, hope they do it justice in the show...

It's been awhile and I'm starting to forget which people died in the first book, and which died in the second, so at least I'll have some surprises this season?? haha

and some would qualify for CP in our country too.

Daenerys is supposed to be, what, 15 when she's married off to Khal Drogo?
