It seems pretty cheap considering other impractical cars are a lot more.

Just because the guy can build a car from the ground up doesn't mean he understands directional tires.

The car is stupid, there's nothing F1 about it. It's another stripped, open wheel chassis with an I4 out back. Only difference is this one has some body panels to make it look like a really ugly Skip Barber forumla car.

Like I said, his fiberglass skills need some work. :P

Lol, the Formula SAE cars out of the colleges look better than that thing.

Ariel Atom seems like a better investment.

Re: Guy builds street legal F1 cars

ariel atom i would rather have... but then again too it was a team of engineers who built it. This is one guy doing it all... Fiberglass skills needs polishing but it's not bad when you think its capable of 170 mph.

"Many of the parts, including gears and brakes, are taken from an old Toyota MR2".

So wait, 1.4L crotch rocket engine with a piece of crap old mid-engine 5-speed gearbox on it? Why the hell wouldn't you use the motorcycle's sequential gearbox??

That would likely have worse power/weight than the 190hp bike engine he used.

I would like to hear 18K RPMs. But they are so expensive that teams have to lease them. They couldn't afford to buy them.

At least the lease includes a squad of engineers per car :P

I was talking about using a street bike engine. Put a Hayabusa engine in it, 200hp spinning at 18k.

This guy gets it.

Boost that street bike engine at 10psi and make 330hp
