Default Explain to me chest freezers

Afwife wants me to get a chest freezer but what am I even looking for? What is the point of these things?

TFW you can store large quantities of frozen food without worrying about setting off a booby trap.

Having stuff fall out of the freezer when you open the door really sucks.

If you have space, I'd go larger.

Really depends on your needs. 3.5 might be perfect. It'll hold quite a bit.

You are two people, do you really eat that much frozen ****?

How much money are you saving on frozen food that it out weighs the electricity cost of a freezer?

Lulz. I don't even know if they make one, but it's some off brand from Sam's. Something like a deep freezer is so simple and so few components that I can get any parts I may ever need here in town for cheap. I would buy one used, but my appliance guy doesn't have any at the moment, am I'm not about that Craigslist or other buying from strangers life.

Hitting up the farmer's market all spring and summer and will have it filled with prepped stuff. Left side veggies. Ride sight sealed and seasoned meats ready for sous vide. Gotta keep things simple.

You just had baby? She gonna breast feed and pump? Then she's gonna need a place to store all the extra milk. We have one p much just like that that we used to store all the breast milk she was putting out. I'd have to double check the model and brand but whatever it was it worked well - energy efficient and p quiet.

get a minimum 7.x cuft chest freezer.
they are better that most uprights, as the chest freezer doesn't dehumidify the air - thus keeps food from getting freeze burn longer.
we have 5+ of these freezers of various sizes. fill the bottom with frozen water jugs to save save/money when they start to get empty.

I haven't had any problems out of mine, but I do make a good bit of money repairing them and washer and dryers as well. I've just got lucky. Our dishwasher is the only brand new appliance in our home.

My gripe with the new DW is that film builds up in the bottom of the door hinge and smells horrible. P easy to just wipe it off and the smell goes away, but I've never had a DW that does that.

Also had to take it apart and clear out some jam it had on the side. Again, NBD, but nothing I ever had to deal with on old *** DWs I've had in the past.

Question - can you keep one of these outside? Temps here are pretty warm/steady and I’ve seen those big outdoor kitchen things with built in fridge/freezers in fancy backyards.

I have limited room in the garage and my wife also wants one. Yes we are two people, but you don’t know Asian wives and their need for freezer space lols.

We've had the same problem with the smell and I haven't found a permanent solution but we run it on "sanitize" mode with dishes twice per week, and then once a month we'll run it empty on "sanitize" with cups of vinegar That seems to keep the smell down. I've had to remove the bottom and clean the filter twice now, and I've had to remove all the spray arms and clean them out no fewer than 6 times since we've had it. Which may or may not be a bad thing since it is a few years old now.

Yes sir. We've always had at least two on our back porch as a kid. As long as you keep them dry, you'll be fine.
