Default Diesel Truckers...GTFIH

So I have a 2008 Ford F-250 Lariat with the gas guzzling 6.4l Powerstroke.

Currently the truck has a non-DPF delete tuner for a paltry HP bump and large torque bump. Stock everything else. (Motor wise)

I am looking to go with a DPF delete downpipe back exhaust and a Spartan tuner to complete this. Looking for better than 13mpg.

My question is this, anyone done this particular mod to this particular truck? I'm a member at PowerStroke.org and a vast majority of them agree the Spartan or Mini-Maxx is the way to go. So I've been down this road, just looking for some feedback from you fine folks here.

I did one with the H&S black maxx and a diamond eye exhaust. It made good gains, don't remember how much exactly. The install was pretty easy, we did it without ever having to raise a tire off the ground.

Do you even step bars bro?

I'll tell you what, I'll take a video of me getting into it if I can connect a tow strap to your bumper and have a tug of war after. I'll even keep it on the efficiency tune for you.

I'm small enough and this truck is jacked up enough that I can damn near walk under it.

I'm not worried about doing the work, just want to know what kind of MPG gains you saw before I drop $3k.

gotcha, a friend/co-worker has your truck with a 6" lift and 37" Toyo M/T's. He's running the mini max and a 4" turbo back and gets 24-25mpg

Nice way to dodge the challenge bible salesman.

Anyway, not worried just looking for more performance and some better MPG's. Once you get to a certain point on the newer diesels you HAVE to start removing **** like this or you hit a brick wall in performance. Getting better gas mileage than a Boeing 777 is just an added bonus.

F'ing money! lol

Thank you sir, you are a scholar and a gentleman.

See Brian, 23-24mpg is awesome especially when I can lay down 1200ft/lb of torque while doing it.

I can tell you from experience of friends the Spartan is what they all used. I was about to pull the trigger on an 08 myself but I ended up picking up a '95 2500 Cummins instead (holy MPG!). My friend bought the 08 I was looking at and has since gone with the Spartan and is seeing 18.5-20mpg.

Also a TON faster

I drove a couple M6 cars before buying mine, and to me the A6 was funner to drive. Also, if and when you ever decide to go faster in it, the A6 cars are quicker at the same HP levels as M6 cars (mostly driver mod, but gearing differences as well). Also, if you don't have to have the sunroof, try and avoid it. They have leaking issues... mine hasn't leaked water yet, but it leaks air after an open-close cycle. I have to pop it up to vent and close it back for it to seal properly

How are the manual shifts in that? The G8 isn't very fun in manual mode. But the trans is pretty bulletproof.
