Dems want common sense gun reform? My ass. HR 5087 "assault weapons band 2018"
#1

I just finished reading it over. This is not only a functional ban on all semi automatic weapons, but also retroactive criminalization and mandatory registry of gun owners. A more un-American piece of legislation has never been seen in my lifetime. 174 Democrats have begun to try and have this bill passed. One similar was tried 10 years ago and was thankfully booted.
Far far far too much to quote but it's absolutely baffling to read what they want.

HOLY **** this is THE answer to all of America's gun violence. Why wasn't this written sooner, oh right because this is crap. Seen this gibberish before in history books and feels like it was written to get people fired up cause of recent gun violence. I think Americans should in a general sense take this bill introduction serious because it sets a presence of what to come throughout the year and next (regarding politicians and gun bills). No telling what the future holds.

Nice...let's be like California....but worse.
"We're not trying to take away your guns! We just want common sense reform!"
*looks at Bill proposal*

Did you see names like Warner and Kaine in the bill's head?
That's when you should worry.
There's a left wing in Congress whom you cannot blame for trying this, but it does not enjoy broad enough support to be worth bringing to the floor.

I mean there's a **** ton more pressing issues we should be focusing on but hey let's push this while it's red hot in the public's eye

The anti-gun group's challenge is that we always let reform drop when the topic goes cold.

Reform won't come from a bill like this.
This bill is a reaction to a tragedy, it is an attempt to satisfy emotion, even if those emotions are legitimate.
It's an attempt to capitalize on the emotions of young people and to capitalize on the politics afforded the left wing of the Party by the effectiveness of the young protesters and their surprisingly articulate campaigns.
But it's not enough...because it's not right.
It just won't be that easy.

Wow it’s really happening. A bill calling for every citizen to turn in all of their guns or face criminal action

Its a stupid bill by a RI representative hoping to get reelected. It will be great fodder for trumps reelection though!

Guys let's not take this seriously, at all. That way when it does pass whilst our heads are planted firmly up our asses, we can be like "well it's too late to do anything; Mao/Bolshevik/Hitler gun grab > mass slaughter here we come!" *bends over and spreads asscheeks*
