Default Cat pee..help needed

Long story short, the cat has peed on our bed, brand new couch and other places and we're really considering giving her up, but it's the last thing we want to do. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to stop a cat from peeing in places besides the litter box? We rescued her in Dec after she spent a few months outside and she's a great cuddly creature, but she pees on our things and it's not good. Her litter is cleaned everyday and it's in a private place. Also, she's recently been to the vet and doesn't have any infections or medical conditions.

How many liter boxes do you have, just one?

Time for the indoor cat to become an outdoor cat.

Where is the litter box?

Is it out in the open or somewhere hidden where the cat can have some privacy? They don't like being vulnerable.

Does it have a place to perch? They typically don't like to be on the ground (vulnerable) and like to be high up. On a shelf, couch, fridge, cabinet, etc. If there are no places like that in your home, your cat might get stressed and pee.

One of my cats is like that, had him since birth, litter trained etc

but he sees a plastic bag and this **** will get peed on within 5 mins.

Another of my cats is terrified of plastic bags

cliffs: cats r weird but cute

only thing you can do is block off access to those areas that you dont want to get peed on

We might try this and she's lived outside before.

Thanks and this is a good suggestion. The litter box is in a private place, it's on the halfway landing going down the basement steps and no one goes there.

It's a female cat who isn't spraying, it's really urinating which is a bit different.

Maybe put more than one litterbox out in different places and see if that solves any issues.

For the "perch", maybe start with some shelves or even a tall cat tree in a corner. That way they can "look down" at the scene and on its humans from above. Something by the window is nice too so they can look outside.

you're screwed

This is not something that is easily if ever cured

My buddies had a cat like this and it never stopped. Once it pees on the furniture its p much there forever. That cat is marking its territory so your house and everything in it is her territory.

I would be getting rid of that cat ASAP, but I've never been a cat person - even though I have one at my house that came with the wife.

Is this happening when nobody is at home?
Only cat/pet in the household?
Maybe cat is getting home alone anxiety and letting you know about it.

My wife had two cats that passed before we got married and I've somehow managed to avoid another one.

One down, and one to go for me. Of course the one that died was the one I liked...

try different types of litter (scented/non-scented). Some cats get picky, as well as how much you pour in.
