I've had that Orbi setup for a couple weeks now and my internet speeds are way better. I also have Spectrum 100mps and wiith Orbi I am getting a constant 115-120mps download speed. Coverage seems to be better. My house is concrete block on the first floor so once I go outside performance diminishes some. I have seen a huge improvement in my home network speeds just by adding the Orbi system. Of course individual results may vary.

Google Wifi mesh all over the house on gigabit google fiber. Stupid easy to setup and have never hiccuped in two years.

**** it, they’re stealing all our info anyway. May as well go all-in.

Last I read, they're getting out of growing the ISP business further. They probably figured out they can efficiently learn everything about a person's life without being their service provider. So far it's been a fantastic service... Hasn't went down in the 1.5yr we've been here, gets a reliable 850'ish up and down when hardwired with a 1tb google drive to boot.

Honestly, the google wifi is like an apple product that's intuitive enough for grandparents... It just works, I've never had to nerd out with it or troubleshoot anything.. Just plug the little ******* in all over the house, spend five minutes setting it up in the app and you're off to the races.

Get this router: Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 4, add a switch: Ubiquiti UniFi Switch 8 60W, then add an AP: Ubiquiti Networks Unifi 802.11ac.
add Ubiquiti Unifi Security Gateway for firewall.

set it all up and youre Gucci.

All of you guys are poor status. Get a Cisco ASR-1001X router and run ZBF, a Catalyst 9300 POE switch, a 5520 WLC and a few 4802i APs and call it a day. Wireless has never been better at my house

Pretty much exactly what we have running at all of our sites lols. But we have multiple of each for redundancy.

I know you're joking, but without a dedicated circuit, the best equipment won't help you much if your ISP is giving you shoddy 30Mbps down and 1.5Mbps up.

At home I have a 300Mbs *** Communications connection with 4 of the Google mesh/Wifi pucks. I get about 250-350Mbps wireless in every room and even outside/my garage. Wired is about the same. Downside is each "puck" has only one LAN port and one WAN port but it isn't a big deal if you want to connect a dumb switch to it. It can only support a single DHCP server which for most people is fine but in some newer homes where your provider comes in at a demarc in your closet, you'll need to "waste" a Google puck in there because if you put a router there, the router will have its own network (e.g.: 192.168.1.0 /16) and the downstream Google Wifi will have its own (e.g.: 192.168.64.0 /16).

There are still enough customizeable settings it will support (port forwarding, DMZs, and of course all of the normal wifi security settings) so it is good enough for most people.

Yeah definitely want to avoid double NAT if possible.

In all honesty, with the layout of my house and where my router is located, my Fios Quantum router does the job for the most part. I pay for a gig through Fios and can get pretty much 600-700mb consistently while on 802.11ac so am very happy. The only things I have wired are my Xbox and main TV.

Also, I hope you don't have a 5520 WLC at every site. Better to do Flexconnect with local switching and centralize your WLCs
