Default Best video card for AGP 4X

I'm looking to upgrade my geforce fx 5200 and I was wondering what card would be a significant improvement over this while still being compatible with AGP4x ( I dont think i have the PCI Express).

Great price/performance ratio for an AGP card.

A 6600GT or a 6800Gs (if you cant still find the AGP version) are also good cards to consider. Or even a used 6800GT on ebay will be a huge step up from your current card.

It all depends on how much money youre willing to spend. The best card for AGP will be a few hundred dollars, but you dont have to spend that much to get a big performance boost over the card you have now.

There are probably some other people on here that could give you some suggestions as far as ATI cards go because most of my experience has been with Nvidia.

What motherboard do you have? If it only goes up to AGP4x it may be the old AGP slot that is physically different than current 4x/8x. If your motherboard can actually handle a AGP8x then probably the Nvidia 7800GS lineup.

You'll want the smaller portion to be in the back for compatibility with todays cards. I believe you can use a 8x card in a 4x slot, just it wont go as fast...like using ATA133 harddrives in a ATA100 interface.
