heh heh. you can have all the Vitamin A you want, since it is water soluble (as is Vitamin C), you'll just pee out whatever your body doesn't use. all i know about potassium was in my last semester's notes..

V. Active transport
Passive transport systems such as simple diffusion, facilitated diffusion, and osmosis move substances down concentration gradients. Active transport systems work against concentration gradients. Active transport requires energy, usually in the form of ATP.

A. Sodium-potassium pump maintains (inside the cell) low sodium, high potassium by pumping sodium out and potassium in. Mechanism is demonstrated in Fig 6.21

1. Conformation change in Na-K pump induced by binding of three Na ions
2. ATP phosphorylates pump and becomes ADP
3. Phosphorylation induces second conformational change in Na-K pump and translocates three Na ions to the exterior
4. Pump now likes to bind K ions (2)
5. Another conformational change causes phosphate group to come off
6. Pump returns to its original conformation and allows dissociation of K ions to the interior of the cell
7. Cycle continues (300 sodium ions per second)

oh ya.. % Vitamin X doesn't mean 100% is all you will use in a given day. i believe when you go down to a small % your health is at risk, or something.
