The environmental impact is significant. Growing food to feed them and the water they need from birth to slaughter is something to consider.

I don't think anyone is saying don't eat beef. But understanding what it takes is something to consider.

Assuming we treat them with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Agreed. Would you eat lab grown beef...? I'd give it a go.

I can’t remember if it’s Beyond Meat or another company, but they’re working on making steaks

what is interesting is the guy who’s heading the research said (paraphrasing) “cows turn plants into muscle tissue, fats, proteins, lipids. So there must be a way we can too.”

Never thought of it that way.

The huge environmental impact is why I went vegetarian. Coming up on two years and super happy about it

I always wonder if it’s a primeval/genetic thing to be conditioned to want to eat more meat.

I dont eat eat beef much anymore but eating a nice fatty ribeye, tasting the saltiness, the taste of the fat, it’s so delicious. But why? I think it’s because our bodies need fat, salts, etc to survive, so when we taste it, we are predisposed to eat as much as possible.

It wasn’t long ago that meat was a treat, we had to work for it. First by hunting for it, then by raising it. Even then, the abundance of meat we have now is excessive. It’s not a survival thing anymore to eat meat. It’s not a luxury anymore, not in the States. We consume so much of it, it’s no wonder that between ease of consumption and fast/junk food that we have as many health problems as we do in our society.

I hear this from so many people. Cool, you're making the world worse for your kid(s) & worsening your own health? Weird flex but okay.

If my friends order meat, I don't shame them, if their food looks good, I tell them as much. They don't care I'm vegetarian & I don't care they eat meat. But for some reason random acquaintances think its cool to just **** on this choice. Weird man.

Americans eat way more then they should, to top it off they sit too much.

I never realized I was overeating until I found out, 1/2 a cup of rice is the recommended serving for 1 person.

I really love meat, but hate the thought of making animals suffer and slaughtering them. The thought of cruelty free meat is very appealing, hopefully they can develop it quickly enough that the costs are not out of control in the near future. Any environmental benefits are ancillary to me.

One of the reasons I've reduced meat consumption. Only eat it when I go out.

Not doing it for me. Doing it for CX-BBY.

Eat a lot of dairy, though. Nuts too.

Check out what pistachios and almonds are doing to CA.

Can confirm Bluu is cool about others eating non-veg.

Ate lunch with him and I had... eggs? PS I thought that place would have alcohol. Also, new phone so lost your number because I didn't backup.

Love beef but trying to eat less, and only higher-quality stuff.

You're only supposed to eat like 3 oz of red meat per WEEK.

Only four eps long, very meat heavy in the first ep but gosh, I love the way she looks at food.

Proud of you bby.

Nuts take a lot of water when grown in deserts, but they still take a lot less water to produce than beef.

Tonight I had a spicy lentil stew that I made thicker than the recipe intended and tossed on bread. So red bell pepper, onion, paprika, cumin, ginger, turmeric, cayenne, apple cider vinegar and garlic to flavor and lentils for their nutritional value/texture. Fresh cilantro once on dat toast for flavor.

Last night I made jack fruit tacos, made salsa in my food processor with roasted tomatoes/jalapeno/garlic/onion, served with onion/cilantro (forgot lime ) and some of my salsa on corn tortillas.

I don't eat beef anymore except on special occasions or vacation. I probably average 1 pound a month.

I eat lamb instead but I use to eat WAY too much. Next time I get some I'll measure the amount I cook.

Aside from the occasional cheeseburger I eat almost no red meat. Been that way for years.

I eat very little red meat...very little meat in general. Most of my meals are vegetarian or vegan. I feel bad for the animals and the environmental impact. Occasionally I will go on a meat binge but for the most part I am vegetarian. The Beyond Burger and Sausage is awesome by the way. Delicious!

I've been meaning to try Jack Fruit. Need to figure out what stores carry it. Do you get it from reduce or is it packaged?
