Default Anyone live in Santa Barbara?

Hawaii is out itís just too damn hot from 11-5 and we are only trying to move to be able to be outside more. Hot summers and cold winters in Reno have annoyed us enough.

Googled some of ghe best cities temperature wise and it comes up. Only driven through once or twice going up or down the coast but seems like a nice town. Probably filled with tons of bleeding heart liberals but oh well.

Anyone?

I know some people that live towards the north in the Santa Ynez Valley or is it Santa Ines hmmmm?, it's a bit warmer there, but they love it.

It's very nice and not far from LA (1.5 hr drive). Goleta/Isla Vista (where UCSB and Santa Barbara City college is located) is a party town, especially anywhere near Del Playa. Did lots of college-era drinking there. When I say party, I mean streets-are-impassable party.

And yes, more moderate than other areas of California, but still leans left (thank Flying Spaghetti Monster!).

I almost accepted an offer at a company in Santa Barbara - only thing I really remember about it was that most of the people who worked there, didn't live there.

Wife and I spent a few days in SB. Very nice and laid back. Felt a little secluded though so I don’t know if I’d want to live there but it was very nice to visit.

I used to live in SB as kid. I loved it. Great clean beaches and mountains nearby. Went back to get married there in 2002 and very
little had changed.

Of if I had the money and didn’t have to live illegally there I’d be back in a heartbeat.

Grew up on the Central Coast. Santa Barbara is great. Probably one of the more moderate areas as far as political culture. Cousin went to UCSB and did nothing but party there. Did a lot of surfing around Santa Barbara (Gaviota/El Capitan/Refugio). Santa Ynez and Los Olivos are nice areas but a pretty penny to buy into. Can get really really warm. Lots of ranch country.

Montecito is located just east of Santa Barbara and is a gorgeous area. However, I prefer the San Luis Obispo area more. Not as many good surf areas though.

Yea I really like Coronado butbthe pricing is crazy and I think it’d get boring quickly. Plus the lady has to drive to work so she doesn’t want to be far.

yeah san diego has gotten very expensive. depending on the commute some of it is getting pretty bad. my old *** 70’s house that’s sub 2000 sqft with an ok yard for san diego would be in the high 600’s. nice areas are easily in the 700’s. rent isn’t so cheap either. but weather all year is usually pretty nice. usually only get about a week of hot weather in the summer. although this year has been several weeks in the 90’s with high humidity. and most older homes don’t have ac.

yeah coronado is ridiculous. retired navy seal guy i work with said he had the chance to buy a house in coronado probably in the 70ís for like $60k but turned it down because his cal king wouldnít fit. then a couple years later had another chance to get a house there for $80k but turned it down because it wouldíve meant borrowing money from his in laws.
