Default alternator to charge battery

My car is stored for the winter. I've been starting my car and letting it idle in the garage for 20 minutes to charge the battery about every 2 weeks.

But, I've just heard that an alternator only charges the battery above 2500 RPM. So If it idles at lest than 1000, Am I not charging the battery?
